At five in the evening, Eleanor received a message from Ian. He was taking their daughter, Evelyn, to the wedding reception for dinner and asked if she wanted to join.
Eleanor declined, telling him to just make sure their daughter had her dinner.
This was what Ian had expected.
That evening, Xavier also brought Vivian. The two little girls sat side by side, each with their guardian next to them. Many guests looked over at the two little princesses with admiration.
Some were even secretly scheming, wondering if their sons might one day win the affection of these two, forging an in-law relationship with the Goodwin and Vaughn families.
After all, having in-laws like Xavier and Ian could save their children from half a lifetime of struggle.
More than half a lifetime—it was the kind of wealth that would take generations to accumulate.
That night, many people also got to see Ian's fatherly side. Usually decisive and formidable in the business world, he was now incredibly meticulous and patient with his daughter, a gentle smile always on his face.
Halfway through dinner, there was a designated rest area where the children could go and play. Soon, two little boys came over, immediately seeking a chance to play with Evelyn and Vivian.
At first, Evelyn and Vivian were playing together with balloons and building blocks. Ian and Xavier, sitting not far away, kept a close watch on them.
The intrusion of the two boys instantly put the two guardians on edge.
The boys were a couple of years older than Evelyn and Vivian and were clearly spoiled at home. They walked right up and insisted on playing with the girls.
Vivian also came over, and the other boy, losing interest, ran off as well. The boys' parents, sitting further back, hadn't noticed their sons' behavior. It was clear they were the type to let their children run wild.
Some people had witnessed the entire scene, including some of the very parents who had been hoping their sons could get close to Evelyn and Vivian.
Ian's intimidating aura made them realize that if they wanted to make a play for these two little princesses, they'd have to get through their fathers first.
And that looked like it would be a very, very difficult task.
Afterward, Ian took the two girls to wash their hands. He was especially thorough, lifting her up to the sink and washing his daughter's little hands twice before he was satisfied.
Back at the table, Ian and Xavier didn't let the children go back to the play area, as the two boys were there again.
