As Faye drove home, her hands trembled on the steering wheel. The image of her father crashing into Horace's car played over and over in her mind. Though she hated Horace and had wanted to see them turn on each other, she had never imagined Horace would die at her father's hands.
But soon, that fear was replaced by a stronger instinct for self-preservation.
If her father ever found out that she had deliberately quoted a higher price to Horace, escalating their conflict and forcing him to kill… Faye shivered again.
Then she thought about everything her father had done over the years—forcing her mother into a divorce, planning to take a billion dollars to go live happily ever after with his mistress and their son.
Faye's resolve hardened. A scumbag like that didn't deserve to be her father.
She pulled the car over to the side of the road, and with shaking hands, took out a second phone. She sent the full video she had just recorded anonymously to the city police department's public tip line.
After that was done, she popped out the SIM card, snapped it in two, and threw it out the car window.
Her mother had already gone to her grandparents' house tonight, and Faye didn't dare go home. She would have to find somewhere else to stay for the night.

Yeaton Manor.
Back home, Roland poured himself a drink to calm his shattered nerves. After a few glasses, he began to relax, convincing himself that eliminating the threat of Horace had been absolutely necessary. Once the divorce was final, he could take Cathie and his precious son and leave the country for good.
The greatest frustration of Roland's life was not being able to have his son openly acknowledged by the Yeaton family. Once he divorced, married Cathie, and made his son legitimate, the gossip would finally end.
Just then, the doorbell rang urgently. He froze. Who would be looking for him this late?
