No More Mrs. Nice Wife (Eleanor) novel Chapter 1529

"Excuse me, but whose order was this?" Yvette demanded, her voice trembling with indignation. Banking on her uncle's influence, she refused to believe just anyone could demote her out of nowhere.

"It came directly from the top."

"Which top?" she pushed, desperate for a name.

"Miss Wallace, I assume it was Mr. Goodwin's direct order. Please cooperate," the HR rep stated flatly.

Yvette's face instantly burned with humiliation. Had she done something wrong today? Did Ian Goodwin personally order her off his floor?

But a man with his level of power probably didn't even know her name. Why would he boot her out so fast?

Panicking, Yvette dialed her aunt, Miranda Wallace. On the other end of the line, Miranda was equally stunned. "What? You're being transferred after just one week?"

"Auntie, please ask Uncle Shaun to call the head of HR! They're close, right? Ask him what's going on! I really want to stay in this position," Yvette begged.

Miranda had orchestrated this entire setup to ensure Yvette married into the Goodwin family, so she wasn't about to give up easily. "Hold on. Let me call your uncle right now and see what he can find out."

Sitting in her cubicle, Yvette felt her nerves completely fraying. She mentally replayed every single second of the boardroom meeting. She hadn't made a single mistake.

Five minutes later, her phone buzzed. It was Miranda.

She snatched it up. "Auntie? What did he say?"

Miranda sighed heavily, sounding utterly exasperated. "Your uncle just got off the phone with HR. It was Ian's executive assistant who made the call to transfer you."

"What? But I didn't even do anything! Why would he treat me like this?" Yvette whined, feeling incredibly victimized.
