No More Mrs. Nice Wife (Eleanor) novel Chapter 1549

She picked up the call. "Hello?"

"Are you finished with work? I'm taking Dr. Smith's team out to dinner tonight, and you should join us," Ian said.

Eleanor thought for a moment. "Alright. Send me the restaurant's address, and I'll head over."

Dr. Smith was both a mentor and a friend to Eleanor. It was precisely because of his relentless research and foundational work that she had finally discovered a potential cure for the blood disease, ultimately allowing her to eliminate the risk of Evelyn ever developing the illness.

When Eleanor left work, Gavin Young was waiting for her outside. He had been sent specifically to pick her up.

"Miss Sutton, Mr. Goodwin was worried you'd be too exhausted to drive, so he sent me," Gavin said with a polite smile.

Seeing that he was already there, Eleanor didn't bother protesting. She had been staring at screens and microscopes all day, and dealing with rush-hour traffic was the last thing she wanted to do.

By the time Gavin escorted her to the private dining room at the restaurant, Ian hadn't yet arrived. He had been delayed by a critical meeting and was still en route.

Dr. Smith immediately pulled Eleanor into a conversation. As they talked, he eventually brought up the early days when he had first taken over the lab in Drexford.

"Dr. Smith, I watched some of the footage of my father working in that lab," Eleanor offered. "If there's ever a chance, I'd really love to see the facility myself."

Dr. Smith paused in surprise. "So, Mr. Goodwin finally gave you clearance for those archives? Yes, as far as I know, those videos were recorded by your father while he was still alive. They documented so much of his incredible work and the progress of his experiments. Your father was a truly remarkable, honorable man."
