The next morning, Ian took Evelyn to school, and Eleanor headed straight to the lab.
When Eleanor arrived, Callie was already there.
"Morning, Eleanor," Callie looked up, thick, dark circles under his eyes. "Those data sets you sent me last night? I ran them all night long."
Eleanor slipped on her lab coat and walked over to him. "What are the results?"
Callie stepped aside and pointed at the wave graph on the screen, unable to hide the sheer excitement in his voice. "Look here. It perfectly matches The Singularity we discovered earlier. And I ran three retests with the new equipment. Every single time, this exact waveform appears with perfect stability."
Eleanor stared at the screen, her heart accelerating. She pulled up the data sets to cross-reference them.
Ten minutes later, she fell back into her chair and took a deep breath. "Callie."
"Eleanor, your hypothesis was entirely correct. This is a Nobel-level discovery."
Eleanor didn't say a word. She just stared at the screen, looking at that familiar curve, her eyes growing hot with emotion.
"You did it. You really did it," Callie said, looking at her with absolute awe.
Eleanor looked back at him. "We did it. This is the result of our entire team's hard work."
Callie scratched his head and smiled shyly. "It's an honor to be on your team."
Just then, Gwenda swiped her card and walked in, carrying three cups of coffee.
"Here, coffee time." She handed them out. When Callie took his cup, he looked at her with a bashful expression. "Thank you, Gwenda."
Gwenda glanced at him. "No problem! What's there to thank me for?"
Callie's eyes, however, were filled with a happy, affectionate smile. Caught by his gaze, Gwenda suddenly felt flustered and quickly looked away.
Eleanor, who was deep in thought, suddenly noticed the tension between the two of them. Amusement flashed in her eyes. She cleared her throat softly. "I need to grab some files from my office."
As soon as Eleanor left, Gwenda turned to Callie. "You worked overtime again last night. Do you want to go get some sleep? I can log the data for you."

Story not going anywhere....
I love this couple, I hope they get back together!...
Without Vanessa to serve as an antagonist, it’s turned a reasonably story into dead wood. I just can't anymore. After, Vanessa's life went downhill it was the perfect time to wrap up the story....
