Alfred stared coldly at her tightly furrowed brows. After a long pause, he said, “The time isn’t up yet.”

Nella frowned even harder.

“There’s less than two months left. Ending it early doesn’t change anything. Neither of us loses anything. Isn’t that better?”

“No.”

Alfred stood up from the couch, his face dark.

Looking down at Nella’s confused expression, he said, “Nella, you signed the contract yourself. If it’s three years, then even one minute or one second less won’t do.”

“But-”

“I’m a person who honors contracts,” Alfred cut her off coldly.

“I hope you are too, Dr. Milo.”

With that, Alfred turned and strode back to the bedroom.

The door slammed shut behind him, carrying an unmistakable surge of anger.
