They shared a guilty look.

Firustied

Nella’s confident tone made the group of people who’d taken money instinctively uneasy.

“You… what are you talking about? We just couldn’t stand your behavior, so we came here to seek justice. What money? Don’t you dare slander us like this.”

“Whether you

you took

money or not, you know the truth. Now please leave.”

At the same time, hospital security arrived.

Before the social media influencers could say another word, they were immediately escorted

out.

Although the scene had quieted down, Nella knew that whatever she or Caleb had just said would be twisted and sensationalized by those unscrupulous media outlets and posted online.

She looked at the old man beside her, who was red in the face with anger, and said worriedly, “Professor Fred, once those tabloids release what you just said, who knows how they’ll spin it? I’m sorry for dragging you into this.”

“Hmph!”

Caleb snorted dismissively. “You think I’m afraid of them? Back when I was young, if they dared to say those things, I would’ve knocked their teeth out.”

Caleb stood with his hands on his hips, looking even angrier than she was.

His already large eyes widened even more in his anger.

A familiar song lyric about someone’s wife keeping their temper in check flashed through Nella’s mind.

“It’s only because my wife keeps my hot temper in check now. Otherwise, they’d really be in for it,” Caleb muttered.

As soon as Caleb finished speaking, applause immediately erupted around them.

“Professor Fred, you’re so cool!”

“Professor Fred, you’re amazing!”

Caleb was surprised.

He felt embarrassed by the praise and smiled awkwardly and waved at them.

Turning back to Nella, he continued, “Don’t worry. I’m still alive and kicking. I won’t let them bully you.”

Nella was amused by Caleb’s protective attitude.

Her heart felt warm.

“Thank you, Professor Fred.”

“I’ve already arranged for several doctors, both inside and outside the hospital, to conduct a comprehensive examination and analysis of Patrick’s condition. Don’t worry-I had a few old colleagues review your surgery footage together. There won’t be any problems. The issue must be somewhere else.”

Caleb comfortingly patted Nella’s shoulder and continued, “But regarding those other comments about you online…”

At the mention of this, Caleb frowned, his expression showing clear dissatisfaction.

“What’s going on with Alfred? His wife is being trashed so badly online, and he doesn’t even say a word? He’s just letting Zoey smear you?

“No

way. I need to call him. That brat! If I had known this would happen, I never would’ve introduced a wonderful girl like you to him.”

Caleb got angry again, fumbling with his phone as he furiously searched for Alfred’s number.

But Nella stepped forward to stop him.

“Professor Fred, forget it. He probably hasn’t seen it. Don’t bother him.”

She had cleared things up with Alfred yesterday. To have him clarify things again today would be pointless.

The online comments calling her a homewrecker only had two possible outcomes.

One option was for Alfred to publicly acknowledge their marriage, throwing Zoey into an online firestorm.

The other was for Alfred to protect Zoey and let the online criticism continue to escalate.

Neither of these outcomes was what she wanted to see.
