Before coming, the family of three had even imagined scenes of becoming in-laws with the Keywoods.

Nobody expected that the hospital would uncover such a long and twisted chain of evidence.

They could hardly believe this was real.

The one who found this hardest to accept was Zoey.

When she came up with this method, she had done plenty of research.

An intracardiac blood clot was a sudden condition. Even if Nella did daily rounds, there was no way she could detect it with the naked eye.

And Patrick had just undergone heart surgery. As long as the anticoagulant dosage was off, there was a high chance it would trigger an intracardiac clot or other postoperative complications.

All Zoey had to do was swap out the saline mixed with medication for ordinary saline.

And hospital medical waste, even at the temporary storage site, would never sit longer than 48 hours.

Even if they figured out Patrick’s condition was due to anticoagulant dose, the evidence would’ve been gone by then.

At that point, it would only point to Nella prescribing the wrong meds.

No one would suspect that someone had swapped the drugs, much less think to go check a pharmacy.

Besides, Apex had so many pharmacies. How could they possibly pinpoint that exact one?

So no matter how Zoey thought about it, she couldn’t understand how they managed to trace it back to Chandler’s son in less than a day.

“Martin has no grudge against Patrick. Why would he want to harm him?” Zoey sneered as she looked at Nella.

“And how did you even find this Martin? How did you even track down that exact pharmacy? Are you psychic or what?”

She voiced her suspicions outright. “Or was Martin acting under your instructions all along, and now you’re pushing him out to take the blame so you can clear yourself?”

“Zoey’s right. If you didn’t collude with this Martin, how did you so easily trace it back to him?”

Eileen chimed in from the side.

Alfred walked in from outside.

Two bodyguards in black suits entered with him.

It was Chandler, the caregiver who had been looking after Patrick, and his son, Martin.

Alfred’s sharp gaze swept the room before landing on Zoey.

That icy look made Zoey’s heart pound. Guilt made her instinctively avoid his eyes.

“Wanna know how we traced it back to them?”

Alfred spoke as he pulled out a chair beside Nella and sat down.

“I was the one who looked into it. If you’ve got questions, ask me. I’ll answer them one by one.”
