“Zoey’s been spoiled by us. When we get home, we’ll set her straight. This incident caused so much trouble for the hospital and for Nella. We’re truly sorry.”

Though he said he was apologizing to the hospital and to Nella, his words were really meant for Alfred.

It was clear that as long as Alfred let it go, everything else would be resolved.

Alfred suddenly let out a soft laugh.

He lazily lifted his gaze to Norris and said, “But I’m not the victim here. I don’t get to decide that.”

Norris’s expression changed, his face full of difficulty. “W-what…”

He understood what Alfred meant.

His gaze slowly shifted to Nella.

Looking at Norris, who was clearly intent on protecting his daughter, she added, “Patrick is the true victim. If you, as his parents, can choose not to pursue it, then we outsiders sure won’t make a fuss.”

Her meaning was crystal clear.
