She meant Nella’s mother, Felicia, who was also Jasmine’s graduate advisor.

“Got it. When I pick a boyfriend next time, I’ll be more careful.”

Once they checked back in, they went their separate ways to focus on work.

Because Nella had taken a long vacation, she was immediately handed a pile of patients waiting for surgery.

Cardiac surgery was always nonstop. That half month in Glacieroth had taken every favor she could get and every spare moment she could squeeze out, switching shifts with colleagues just to make it work.

“I just finished a project near your hospital. Lunch together?”

It was totally unexpected. It was the first time Alfred had ever texted her to ask her out.
