The moment Zoey mentioned her imaginative love rivals, a sharp, ugly look flashed across her face.

Norris looked at her, speechless. He didn’t even bother arguing.

Did she really think people in the CEO’s office would dare to fake Alfred’s orders and make such a big decision?

Anyone who could work that close to the CEO wasn’t that stupid.

But Norris knew there was no point in saying any of this.

His daughter never listened to the truth.

She was lost in the illusion Alfred had given her, lost herself in the lies.

“I could tell the last time we went to Keywood Group,” Zoey said angrily. “Those women were dressed all flashy and seductive. They’ve probably been eyeing Alfred for a long time.

“No way. I’m calling Alfred right now. I’ll tell him to fire that bitch immediately.”

She pulled out her phone and was about to dial.

“That’s enough. Haven’t you embarrassed yourself enough already?” Norris snapped, stopping her.

“Can you use your brain for once? That’s the CEO’s office at Keywood Group. Who would be dumb enough to risk their job like that? This was clearly Alfred’s decision. Can’t you see it?”

His words hit Zoey hard. Her face twisted for a second, then turned pale.

“That’s impossible,” she said through clenched teeth. “Alfred wouldn’t do this to us.”

“Yes,” Eileen quickly agreed.

“We didn’t offend Alfred. And with Zoey’s relationship with him, why would he make things hard for us?”

Norris shot her a cold look. “Did you forget what you had done?”

His words froze both mother and daughter.

“You mean… the incident I threw that dead dog into the well?” Eileen asked, unsure.

Before Norris could answer, Zoey denied that right away.

“That’s even more impossible. If that were the reason, Alfred wouldn’t have helped Mom take down all the news headlines. He could’ve just let her get torn apart online.”

As much as Norris disliked his daughter’s self-centered thinking, he couldn’t argue with that.

If Alfred was really punishing them for that incident, why spend so much money cleaning things up back then?

Since her father could not rebuke this, Zoey’s expression relaxed and continued.

“Dad, there must be another reason. Maybe your friend was just trying to scare you. Let’s wait. The advance payment might

come in tomorrow.”

Norris still felt uneasy, but he couldn’t push too hard.

Late payments were common in business, after all.

But all these years, Keywood Group had treated them so well; even a small delay made him panic.

Like a pet bird that had been fed on time every day-miss one feeding, and it starts chirping in fear, wondering if it did something wrong.

In reality, the owner might have just forgotten.

After comforting himself with that thought, Norris finally felt calmer.

“Fine,” he said. “The day after tomorrow is Keywood Group’s anniversary gala. We’ll attend and check Alfred out.”
