Awakened Housewife: Ignore Betrayer’s Begs
Chapter 232 A Performance for Xavier
“Sabrina, look–I made a little clay figure of you!”
“Sabrina, my teacher said there’s a field trip next weekend. Will you come with me?”
“Maria, are you thirsty? I’ll get you some water.”
Laughter and lighthearted chatter filled the car’s interior.

Though focused on driving, Vincent occasionally responded with a brief comment or two.
Even though he wasn’t physically at Ravenshade Villa, his attention remained fully engaged with the scene unfolding through the screen.
Scarlett sat silently in the back, pressing herself against the door, half–afraid Sabrina might catch a glimpse of her through the video call and witness her current discomfort.
She was Vincent’s legal wife, Vanessa’s biological mother, yet in that moment she felt like an intruder–completely out of place.
The entire car ride felt like slow torture.
She tried distracting herself by counting the trees flashing past her window, but eventually lost track as the voices from the phone pulled her attention back.
Finally, Vincent pulled into the hospital parking garage. After exchanging a few more words with Sabrina, he ended the video call.
Before visiting Xavier, Scarlett stopped at the hospital florist to buy a fresh bouquet, then selected a fruit basket from the gift shop.
The basket was heavier than she expected, and she struggled slightly under its weight. Noticing her difficulty, Vincent stepped over. “Let me get that.”
Scarlett released her grip, allowing him to take the basket from her.
She carried the flowers; he carried the fruit. They walked side by side through the hospital’s automatic doors.
Outside Xavier’s room, Scarlett noticed a small crowd had gathered. Not only were Richard, Amanda, Daniel, and Harris present, but several of Xavier’s old friends had come by as well.
Fortunately, it was a spacious VIP suite with enough room to accommodate everyone.
When Scarlett and Vincent entered together, all eyes turned toward them.

Xavier looked over too, his smile widening. He beckoned to Scarlett. “Come here, dear. Sit by me.”
Scarlett approached with the flowers, arranging them carefully in a vase before saying, “Grandpa, I hope you have a speedy recovery and enjoy many more healthy years.”
Vincent followed, placing the fruit basket among the other gifts.
Straightening up, he asked, “Are you feeling better today?”
Xavier beamed at both of them, reaching to take their hands. His smile was warm and genuine. “I don’t need a long life. As long as you two are happy together, even if I passed now, I’d die
content.”
Scarlett frowned gently. “Grandpa, please don’t say things like that.”
But Vincent responded smoothly, “Don’t worry, Grandpa. Scarlett and I will be just fine.”
As he spoke, he placed his arm around Scarlett’s waist.
Right in front of everyone, he held her without hesitation.
Though intensely uncomfortable, Scarlett suppressed the urge to pull away.
Xavier had heard Vincent’s assurance but not Scarlett’s, so he looked at her expectantly.
Feeling the pressure of the moment, Scarlett reluctantly added, “Yes… Vincent and I will make it work.”
Not far away, Daniel and Harris observed the scene from near the window.
Daniel narrowed his eyes, his tone dripping with disdain. “What a performance.”
He was, of course, referring to Scarlett.
Harris nudged him. “What did you say?”
Daniel didn’t repeat himself. Shooting Harris a warning look, he turned and left the room.
Xavier had stated his wish in front of everyone and received the public commitment he wanted.
He scanned the faces in the room one by one, then declared firmly, “Since you’ve all heard it, I want you all as my witnesses.”
Some murmured agreement; others turned away with displeasure.
