No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 550

But Scarlett kept fighting. She bit him, shoved him, kicked—none of it mattered. No matter how hard she struggled, Damian wouldn't let go.

If he loosened his grip now, she'd slip away for good.

Tears were streaming down her face. Her voice cracked as she sobbed, "Damian, you're insane... Let go of me. Let go!"

Something in her voice must have gotten through to him, because finally, he relaxed his hold. Gently, he let her go.

The moment she was free, she tilted her head up, eyes blazing, and slapped him across the face. Hard.

She didn't look away afterward. Just stared at him.

She knew exactly how much force she'd used—her fingers were still trembling from it.

His head snapped to the side from the impact. For a second, he just stood there, stunned. Then he lifted a hand to touch his cheek.

It took a long moment before he slowly turned back to face her. When he saw her tear-streaked face, his voice came out quiet, disbelieving. "You really want me to be with her that badly?"

Scarlett straightened her clothes. She didn't answer his question directly. Instead, she said, "Yes, my name is Scarlett. But I'm not the one who saved you. And I'm not the person you promised to marry."

He didn't say another word. Just turned and walked toward the window. "Fine. Then I'll go die somewhere else."

No hesitation. No looking back.

He opened the window and climbed out in one smooth motion.

Scarlett thought he was bluffing. "Damian—"

But before she could even finish, he was gone. He'd leaped from the ledge.

She ran to the window and looked down. Nothing. Just a few drops of fresh blood on the sill, bright red, proving he'd been there at all.

He was gone. She should have felt relieved. Instead, her chest tightened with unease.

She stood there at the window for a long time, unable to move. Only when the blood on the sill had dried did she finally snap out of it.

She reached out, touched the droplets with her fingertip. They weren't sticky anymore. Her anxiety spiked.

He was still hurt. She had no idea where he lived, if he'd made it home okay.

Worry gnawed at her all night. She barely slept.

When her phone rang, she was still awake.

Nolan. It was already 4 a.m.

She picked up. His voice came through, gentle. "Scarlett. You up?"

Her voice came out rough, low. "Yeah."

"Get ready when you can. Let me know, and we'll head back to Rivergate."

She agreed and hung up.
