No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 571

As Damian tightened his grip on her hand, Scarlett let out a cold laugh. "Damian, you have no shame."

He pushed her hand aside and stared straight into her eyes, his voice low and teasing. "Sweetheart, is this really the first time you're figuring that out? I can walk away from Melinda saving my life without blinking. You really think there's a line I won't cross?"

Scarlett's face flushed. "Damian, you—"

Seeing her flustered and blushing, Damian couldn't help but chuckle. He leaned in, brushed his lips softly against hers, then pulled back and released her hand. "You're still healing. I'm not gonna push it. Just focus on getting better. Once you're back on your feet, I'll go a hundred rounds with you."

He said the last part right by her ear.

Clearly, he wanted her to feel every word.

A slight shiver ran through her.

But then, just like that, he stood up and headed for the door.

The second he stepped away, the air in the room felt clearer—but emptier too.

To her own surprise, a quiet ache of loneliness settled in.

Damian left quickly, pulling the hospital room door shut behind him.

Lying there, Scarlett realized just how hollow the room could feel.

As Damian walked toward the elevator, a soft voice stopped him. "Mr. Langley."

He knew it immediately—Melinda.

Turning around, sure enough, there she was, her face lightly made up. Pretty, no doubt. But Damian felt absolutely nothing.

He looked at her, his tone flat and cold. "Ms. Olsen, was I not clear enough, or do you just not want to hear it?"

His voice carried obvious irritation and hostility.

Melinda could sense his resistance and disgust, but she didn't back down. Lifting her gaze to meet his, she cut straight to the point. "Do you love Scarlett?"

Damian let out a sarcastic laugh. "What do you think? You really believe I'm lying next to her in bed calling her 'my wife' for the fun of it? I'm winning her over. Claiming her. You get what I'm saying, right?"

Melinda's frame gave a slight shake.

Even so, she held her ground and said plainly, "Mr. Langley, Scarlett is not right for you."

Unfazed, Damian lifted an eyebrow. "Go ahead. Let's hear it."

Damian didn't spare her another glance. He turned, pressed the elevator button, and stepped inside the moment the doors slid open.

She stayed planted there like a statue.

Not long after, the elevator on the opposite side chimed open.

Hearing it, Melinda's head lifted instinctively—maybe Damian had come back.

But it wasn't Damian. It was Nolan.

Seeing him, she quickly smoothed her hair and offered a polite smile. "Nolan."

Nolan looked briefly surprised, then returned the greeting. "Ms. Olsen."

Curious, Melinda asked, "What brings you here at this hour?"

He saw no reason to hide it. "Came by to check on Scarlett. She's in the hospital."

Hearing that even Nolan was here for Scarlett, something unsettled flickered inside Melinda—though she kept it off her face. She just sighed softly. "It's pretty late. You've had a long day."

Nolan smiled gently. "I just got out of surgery. Wrapped up around ten. That's why I'm running a little behind."
