Hearing that, Scarlett went still in his arms.

When Damian felt her relax, his smile widened. "That's more like it. It's not like we haven't done this before."

A flush spread across Scarlett's cheeks as she shot him a look, but before she could say anything, Damian leaned in and kissed her—not just a quick brush of the lips, but something deeper and lingering.

People were passing by on the sidewalk, and Scarlett's face grew even warmer. Unable to pull away, she hid her face against his shoulder.

When the light turned green, Damian drew back gently and murmured, "Be good. I'll push you across."

Scarlett straightened up as Damian rose to his feet.

Together, they crossed the intersection and slowly moved out of Nolan's view.

Back at Theron Manor, Nathan was home, finishing up the dinner Violet had kept warm for him.

Damian wheeled Scarlett through the front door, and Nathan glanced over briefly before turning his attention back to his plate without a word.

"Working late again, Nathan?" Damian asked, tone friendly.

Nathan didn't look up but replied flatly, "Yeah."

"Rough schedule," Damian offered.

"Yeah," Nathan repeated, just as curtly.

Sensing the chill, Damian knew better than to push it. "Alright, I should get going. I'll stop by tomorrow to check on Scarlett."

Nathan wiped his mouth with a napkin and said to the housekeeper, "Please see Mr. Langley out."

"Oh, that's all right—I can find my way," Damian said quickly.

The housekeeper looked to Nathan, who simply said, "Let Mr. Langley decide."

It wasn't exactly being shown the door, but Damian understood things with Scarlett needed to take their time.

The fact that Nathan allowed him to come and go from the house at all was progress. Nathan had made it clear he wanted any relationship between Scarlett and Damian to develop slowly.

If they truly grew closer in time, he wouldn't stand in the way. But for now, Scarlett was still legally married and hadn't fully let Damian in.

Turning to Scarlett, Damian softened his voice. "I'll head home now. See you tomorrow."

Scarlett nodded, offering a small smile. "Drive safely. Text me when you get in."

As he passed by her, Damian gently brushed his hand over her hair. "Will do."
