Scarlett nodded. "Yes, I love it."
Damian slipped his arms gently around her waist from behind, lacing his fingers together over her stomach. He rested his chin in the crook of her shoulder. "We'll take this one then. There are plenty more lovely dresses though—want to keep looking?"
Scarlett made no move to pull away, letting him hold her as she gazed at his reflection in the mirror. "Alright."
He loosened his embrace. "I already picked out a few more for you. We can get them all if you like."
Scarlett started to decline, but he cut her off before she could speak. "Go try them on. I've got more than enough money, and I won't take no for an answer."
She swallowed the words that had risen to her lips.
The sales associate brought over another gown and handed it to her. "Your husband dotes on you so much, ma'am. While waiting, he picked out several other styles just for you."
"Thank you," Scarlett said with a nod.
As she straightened up, she caught Sabrina's gaze out of the corner of her eye, then quickly looked away. Once, she would have felt compelled to compete with her, but not anymore. It all felt meaningless now. Or perhaps it was simply because the man Sabrina was going to marry was never Damian.
Sabrina stepped into her fitting room and drew the curtain closed.
Damian lingered outside Scarlett's stall and glanced toward the mirror. He saw Sabrina staring over here, lost in thought. He was about to look away when she called out to him.
"Mr. Langley."
He turned to her with a bright smile. "Ms. Monroe. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding."
Sabrina froze for a moment, then replied awkwardly, "Thank you."
He could tell she was upset and raised an eyebrow playfully. "You're soon to be a bride. Why the long face?"
Sabrina forced a smile. "I'm happy."

Sabrina's eyes followed his back. She watched how attentive and thoughtful he was toward Scarlett, a devotion no one could match. She couldn't help wondering. Why such a wonderful man has fallen for Scarlett? What makes her so special?
Doubt and curiosity gnawed at her. What did Scarlett have that earned her such lavish affection? Could she possibly be holding something over him?
