Hearing Damian laid everything out, Scarlett's chaotic mind gradually stilled.
Seeing her furrows uncrease, Damian added softly, "We both know how Vincent operates—even if his wedding went off without a hitch, he wouldn't sign those divorce papers easily."
Scarlett nodded in agreement.
Smiling, Damian patted her head gently, soothing, "Eat up, babe, and drop the worries—we'll figure things out once we're home; there's always a way out since the past is dead and gone."
Scarlett knew in her heart that regardless of today's outcome, her past with Vincent was buried forever.
She was Damian's woman now.
With that realization, she pushed her anxiety aside.
Meanwhile, after being dragged out of the hall, Vanessa sobbed hysterically, her eyes brimming with tears.
Yet watching her weep, Maria felt zero sympathy—only intense disgust.
She found the kid's crying thoroughly irritating, yet suppressed her rage thinking about Sabrina's disappearance.
Pulling out her phone, Maria ordered Vanessa sternly, "Call Aunt Sabrina right now."
Vanessa felt miserable inside—Vincent gave her the cold shoulder, and Scarlett brushed her off just the same.
Right now, pure resentment churned in her chest, making her shut down and refuse to lift a finger.
She turned Maria down flatly, "No! I won't call!"
Her refusal instantly set off Maria's explosive temper.
Raising her hand out of control, Maria slapped Vanessa hard across her small face.
SLAP! The sharp crack left Vanessa stunned and dazed.
A second later, she burst into loud wails, screaming, "I'm telling my daddy! I'm telling him!"
She turned to march back toward the main hall.
Maria made no move to stop her, sneering viciously behind her back, "Go ahead—tell him! See if anyone cares about a worthless brat like you once you speak up!"
Hearing her vicious insults, Vanessa cried harder, turning around to glare back, "I'm not a worthless brat! I have a mommy!"
