Obedience No More He's the One I Deserved novel Chapter 322

That sounded kind of insulting. Dawn's lips twitched. "That doesn't sound like something Mr. Curran would say."

"Yeah, well, I guessed."

...

Tammy laid out her makeup tools one by one, talking as she worked. "It's not like you have any real talent anyway. Mr. Curran just likes your face. He never goes to these events, you know? You're the reason he's even showing up."

Jonathan had been calling on Tammy constantly because of Dawn, so much so that she barely had time for Mrs. Curran anymore.

Dawn didn't argue. Since Jonathan had already given the order, there was no point resisting.

She'd heard of Silvanus Leonard before.

He was from Gredos and did most of his business overseas. His wife loved to travel, so he'd retired early to accompany her around the world.

Dawn was a little curious whether that couple was really as devoted as people said.

The gown Tammy brought today was far more dramatic than usual—a white one, strapless, with lace cutouts on the bodice. It didn't look very special at first glance, but the fluffy, cloud-like train trailing behind her made it impossible to ignore.

"I swear this makeup look is perfect for you," Tammy said proudly as she started working on Dawn's face. "If you make Mr. Curran extra happy tonight, remember to thank me, okay?"

Dawn opened her eyes and couldn't help laughing. "Didn't you say I wasn't good enough for him?"

"I mean, yeah," Tammy muttered under her breath, "but it's not like I can do anything about it. What's done is done. Just try to keep him in a good mood, I guess. Good luck."

Dawn had no idea how to respond. Tammy really was one of a kind.

After finishing the makeup, Tammy started on her hair. The look she created—innocent yet alluring—fit Dawn perfectly. Combined with the calm, detached look in her eyes, the result was quietly breathtaking.

Tammy clapped her hands in satisfaction. "Done. You look amazing.

"But I'm not going with you today. The driver will take you."

After saying that, she turned around and began gathering her things.

Dawn paused. "Jonathan doesn't want you to come with me?"

"Yeah." Tammy frowned a little, still confused. Normally, she would've gone along to handle touch-ups and appearances. But Jonathan's orders weren't something she could question.

Dawn nodded, a thoughtful look flickering in her eyes.

Not long after Tammy left, a bodyguard drove up to the door.

"Ms. Dawn, we should get going."

"Where's Jonathan?"

Even Dawn was surprised. Normally, he would've snapped at her by now. What is with him today?

Silvanus might not have been from Northville, but his status was unmatched. The party was packed with elite guests—business tycoons, politicians, and even a few top celebrities from the entertainment world.

Dawn couldn't have cared less. After one quick look around, she found a quiet corner and sat down.

Jonathan was busy networking, greeting one big name after another, and had no time to bother her.

A few minutes later, the guests of honor appeared.

Silvanus Leonard and his wife looked to be in their 50s, but they carried themselves with youthful energy. Their easygoing charm made everyone feel at ease, and the room buzzed with admiration.

After the initial round of greetings and congratulations, Dawn heard someone call out, "Hey, Ethan!"

The name snapped her attention toward the voice. Her gaze froze the moment she saw who it was.

The man across the room didn't seem to notice her. Silvanus greeted him warmly. "The last time we met was in Gredos! I didn't think you'd make it tonight. How come you're suddenly so free these days?"

The man smiled faintly and nodded. "Tonight is your anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard. There's no way I'd miss it."

"I'm glad you came!" Silvanus laughed heartily. "Oh, I heard you got married recently! I was in South Fricana and couldn't make it back in time. Your wife ... "

He turned toward the woman beside Ethan, looking a little puzzled.

Roxanne smiled gracefully and extended her hand. "Good evening, Mr. Leonard. I'm Roxanne West."
