Once a Doormat Now Untouchable (Caleb and Sydney) novel Chapter 517

Chapter 517

Penelope wasn’t sure if she was imagining it, but she thought she heard something cold-almost murderous- in Megan’s tone.

Megan wanted to go after Sydney.

A chill crept down Penelope’s spine.

When the pampered Hutton heiress turned ruthless, she was every bit as terrifying as Penelope herself.

‘Sydney, what on earth did you do to offend her so badly?’ Still, the thought brought a cruel little smile to Penelope’s lips. She only hoped Megan wouldn’t disappoint her.

For once, Tiffany had a weekend off and was determined to sleep until noon and catch up on all the rest she’d missed from endless overtime.

Then the doorbell rang.

Half-asleep, she groaned and pulled the blanket over her head. Sydney wasn’t home-she had moved into Delta Mansion-and besides, she had fingerprint access now.

Tiffany figured it was a courier and ignored it. They would just leave the parcel at the door anyway.

But the doorbell stopped only for a second before starting again. The ringing was relentless and grating.

“Who the hell…” She shot upright, flung off the blanket, shoved her feet into slippers, and stomped to the door in fury.

When she yanked it open, the sight outside made her blink herself fully awake. Fortunately, she’d thrown on her trench coat. Otherwise, she’d have opened the door in pajamas.

Caleb stood there, tall and composed, though a flicker of apology softened his expression. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you. Sydney isn’t home?”

He had rung the bell assuming Sydney would already be up. Her schedule was always regular, and she was never a late sleeper. He hadn’t expected Tiffany to answer instead.

Still, if Tiffany was here, at least it meant Sydney wasn’t still living with Julian.

Tiffany, grumpy and bleary-eyed, scowled. “Yeah. She’s not.”

“Do you know where she went?” Caleb asked. “She’s not listed on the clinic’s appointment schedule today.”

The clinic’s online system made it easy to check doctors’ hours.

Tiffany hesitated, rubbing her messy hair. “Not sure. Why don’t you just call her and ask?”

She could tell that things between Sydney and Caleb had eased lately. Nonetheless, Sydney moving in with Julian wasn’t something she should mention.

“Alright.” Caleb nodded and left quietly.

Back home, Caleb waited until nearly noon before finally dialing Sydney’s number.

At that moment, Sydney was out in the garden watering the flowers. Her phone was in the living room.

On the sofa, Elliot was peeling an orange when the ringtone went off. He stood to bring it to her but paused when he saw the caller ID.

Peter looked up. “What’re you waiting for? Take it to her!”
