Chapter 621
At Seraph Villa, the three Hutton siblings sensed something was wrong the moment they stepped inside.
Raymond stopped a maid. “Where’s my mom?”
“Mr. Hutton, your mother suddenly fainted. Your father went with the ambulance to the hospital,” the maid replied at once
“Which hospital?” James and Raymond asked in unison.
Diana frowned. “Did they argue?”
Florence’s health had improved a great deal in recent days. She should not have fainted without warning. The most likely cause was another dispute between her and Theodore over Megan.
The maid hesitated, unsure whom to answer first. “They didn’t argue. Dinner went smoothly. Your mother fainted during her rehabilitation exercises in the back garden.”
She then turned to James and Raymond. “They took her to Sacred Heart Hospital.”
It was a Sterling hospital, staffed with top specialists across every department.
Diana’s expression turned icy. “Call Dad. Find out what’s going on.”
After giving James the instruction, she grabbed the coat she had just hung up and headed out. As she left, she asked one more question. “When our mother fainted, what was Penelope doing?”
“Well…” The maid thought for a moment. “She came back with your father tonight. He didn’t say to keep her confined. When your mother fainted, she had just gone to the back garden.”
“Got it.” Diana pushed the door open.
By the time she reached the car, James had finished the call and caught up with her. “Mom’s awake. Her blood pressure is back to normal. She keeps asking about Vee.”
Only a handful of people at Seraph Villa knew that Sydney had been kidnapped.
Theodore might lose his judgment when it came to Megan, but he had never been careless with Florence. He would not have let
anything slip.
Diana narrowed her eyes. She got into the car, then stopped Raymond as he moved to follow. “James and I will go to the hospital. You stay here.”
Raymond frowned. “Why am I staying?”
“Send Penelope to the Wolfen family tonight.” Diana gave the order and drove off into the darkness.
Raymond lacked Diana’s meticulous nature, but he understood at once. His sister had never intended to send Penelope back to the Hamptons.
The Wolfens’ fourth heir had been waiting for her all along.
Upstairs, Penelope had been on edge since she heard the siblings return. She admitted it to herself. She had acted on impulse. She should not have told Florence about Sydney’s kidnapping for a moment of satisfaction.
If she failed to provoke Florence into something worse, she would only bring trouble upon herself. With Diana’s sharp mind, it would not take long to trace everything back to her.
‘Will the Hamptons still come to propose?’ Her thoughts churned when a knock struck the door.

A cold, lazy voice followed. “Open up.”
She recognized the voice at once. She had dealt with Raymond before, and she knew he had never truly respected her.
“Now.” His patience was thin. He had never shown warmth toward Sydney either, but the way he looked at Sydney was nothing like how he looked at her.
Penelope shivered. “Coming…”
Florence had been sent to the hospital, and Raymond had not gone with them. He had come here instead.
Penelope opened the door and forced an innocent expression. “Do you need something, Raymond?”
Raymond’s face held its usual cool indifference. “Someone is eager to marry you into their family. I’ve arranged a car to take you
over.” (1)
She froze.
Whether it was an engagement or a wedding, such matters should take place on an auspicious day. Who sent someone in the middle of the night?
Adeline must have learned that she was not a true Hutton daughter. That was why she treated her with such disregard.
Penelope relaxed slightly. “All right. I’ll pack.”
‘So they don’t know yet that Florence’s collapse has something to do with me,’ she thought. 2
As long as she made it back to the Hamptons, the Huttons would not be able to touch her easily. No matter what, they would still show the Hampton family some respect.
As for Sydney, even if the Huttons acknowledged her, so what? In a moment like this, there was nothing more she could do.
As long as Penelope survived this, there would always be another chance.
