A faint, icy smile danced on Tyrone’s lips, a mere flicker of amusement in the otherwise tense atmosphere. “Aside from a birthday celebration, is there anything else you desire as ‘compensation’?”

Zera’s eyes sparkled with an infectious excitement. “Tyrone, do you genuinely mean that? Are you really going to grant my wish?”

Tyrone leaned back slightly, his expression unreadable. “But first, you must tell me what you want.”

Zera’s heart raced, and she struggled to contain the joy bubbling within her. “Tyrone, from the very first moment I saved you, pursued you, and even when we were together, you never once took charge.”

Lost in her own daydream, she continued, her voice filled with yearning. “I know we can’t be together anymore, but I still crave a birthday like any other girl would have. I want to celebrate at the beach, with the sun shining and the waves crashing. I want you to bake me a birthday cake with your own hands, something made with love. A bouquet of roses—red ones, please! And I want you to post something online, something that shows we were once together. That way, all the sacrifices I made for you won’t feel like they were in vain.”

The words “cake,” “roses,” and “post” struck Tyrone like a physical blow, forcing him to rise abruptly from the couch.

Zera flinched, startled by his sudden movement.

His reaction sent a wave of fear coursing through her, rendering her momentarily speechless. She held her breath, her eyes locked onto him, searching for a glimmer of understanding.

“Tyrone, please… just have a little pity for me. Consider it a way to repay me for saving your life. Just grant me this one small wish, okay?”

The silence that followed was deafening, amplifying her anxiety.

She spoke again, her voice trembling and desperate. “Tyrone, I ended up like this because of you. I’m not asking for much. Why can’t you agree to this one simple thing?”

Still, he remained silent, his expression inscrutable.

Overwhelmed, Zera buried her face in her hands, tears streaming down her cheeks. “My entire life has been shattered because of your grandfather! The only reason I’m asking for your help is that I have nowhere else to turn. If I had known how much you despised seeing me, I would have just chosen to die overseas with my child!”

Her sobs echoed in the room, raw and heart-wrenching. “Wahhh!”

In a flurry of emotion, she bolted out of the private room, tears cascading down her face.

Noel, standing nearby, quickly shut the door behind her, sensing the tension in the air.

Tyrone, unfazed, calmly extinguished his cigarette, the smoke curling into the air like his thoughts. “How’s the matter I asked you to look into?”

Noel replied, his tone steady, “The evidence is already at the police station. They should be here shortly.”

Tyrone stood up, his face a mask of indifference, yet inside, a storm brewed.

Approximately ten minutes later, Zera found herself outside the Regal Club, wiping her tears away as she stared at the door, feeling utterly lost.

She stomped her foot in frustration, her heart racing with disbelief.

Having dashed out in tears, she couldn’t shake the feeling of abandonment; Tyrone hadn’t even attempted to follow her.

His cries only served to heighten her irritation.

Zera’s mother, Shirley Caldwell, hurried over to scoop Orson into her arms. “Zera, how did your conversation with Tyrone go? Did he give you a check?”

Daphne, hearing the commotion, emerged from her room, concern etched on her face.

She poured Zera a glass of water, her voice gentle but probing. “Zera, what did Mr. Winter say? When is he bringing you to the Winter Estate?”

Zera accepted the glass but placed it down on the coffee table, her eyes still red and puffy from crying. “Tyrone didn’t say anything except that I needed to explain about the sixty million dollars.”

Julian, unable to contain himself, interjected, “Did he think you were lying?”

Daphne quickly pushed Julian aside, her focus entirely on Zera. “That’s impossible. If he truly thought Zera was lying, would she even be standing here right now?”

Zera nodded, her heart heavy with the weight of uncertainty.

If Tyrone had genuinely discovered something incriminating, he wouldn’t have simply let her walk away.

Daphne continued, her voice filled with hope. “Zera, he’s always been generous to his fiancée’s family. Did you tell him you had nowhere to stay? Did he offer to buy you a house or something?”

Zera rubbed her temples, feeling the pressure of the situation. “Daphne, I did tell him. But he didn’t respond at all. Not a single word about making things right.”

Daphne placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, exuding confidence. “What Julian and I overheard can’t be wrong. Mr. Winter still cares for you. He called off the wedding because of you. Perhaps he just has concerns right now, which is why he can’t get back together with you yet. Just wait a little longer.”
