Chapter 578 Disrespect
Chapter 578 Disrespect
The Hills were only doing all this tonight because of the Winters–because of Tyrone.
Aella pocketed the 20 million and sat down, perfectly satisfied.
Their eyes met; Aella’s gaze said she’d gotten exactly what she wanted, and Tyrone’s was all quiet indulgence.
Standing just behind them, Zera watched every tiny interaction up close, her eyes turning red with jealousy.
That little bitch.

If it hadn’t been for her stirring things up, Tyrone never would’ve suddenly cut things off.
And he definitely wouldn’t have gone back on his word and taken that 10 million back.
Tonight, Zera was going to make sure everyone saw just how arrogant and nasty that girl from the Reids really was.
She turned, picked up a glass of wine, and walked back to Aella again.
In front of everyone, she said to Aella, “Ms. Reid, since you’ve forgiven me, why don’t we share a drink? I’d really like to be your friend.”
Aella shook her head. “Sorry, Ms. Caldwell, I don’t drink.”
She had zero interest in being friends with a woman like this.
Nobody could fake it harder than Zera.
When Aella didn’t play along, Zera’s smile froze.
She lowered herself even more.
Her eyes shimmered with almost–tears.
n a pleading tone, Zera said, “Ms. Reid, the Hills specially arranged this dinner tonight just to clear up the misunderstanding between us. I’ve apologized sincerely, and I’ve compensated you–are you really still not willing to forgive me?”
Nella couldn’t stand that fake, pitiful act for another second.
She stood up and reached for Zera’s glass. “Nobody even touched you. What are you crying for?”
As soon as Aella’s fingers brushed the stem, Zera twisted her wrist; the glass tilted, and the wine splashed all over Zera herself.
Zera immediately grabbed Aella’s hand and gasped, “Ms. Reid, I really do want to be friends with you, if you don’t agree, that’s fine -but how could you throw wine on me?”
Aella yanked her hand back, annoyed, “Zera, are you addicted to playing the victim or what?”
Zera let out a dramatic cry and dropped to the floor.
Aella froze with both hands still up in the air. She was speechless.

She hadn’t even used any strength, seriously.
Vinnie was the first to rush over, helping Zera up from the ground.

Pointing at Aella, Vinnie snapped, “Ms. Reid, at the fair, you smashed that lantern for no reason, and Zera stepped in and paid for to smooth things over. She’s the one letting bygones be bygones and bringing you a drink, and you not only refuse–you humilia her right in front of Mr. and Mrs. Hill. Do you have any respect for your elders at all?”
Before Aella could answer, Tyrone rose to his feet.
He took her hand and pulled her in close to his side.
Catching the warning in Tyrone’s eyes, Aella instantly cooled down.
There were too many people here.
She couldn’t lose her temper.
And she definitely couldn’t start slapping people.
Tyrone swept a cold glance over Zera and Vinnie, just about to speak, when Virginia stopped him in time.
Virginia looked at Zera with open disdain.
She said to Lilian, “Mrs. Hill, they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Online, they’ve painted Ms. Caldwell’s mother as completely disgraceful. I actually wondered if it was all a misunderstanding.”
Then, Virginia turned to George. “But it seems the rumors weren’t wrong at all.”
Her words were loaded, and there was no way George didn’t hear the subtext.
He lowered his head, humiliated, and shot Zera a vicious glare.
If Zera weren’t tied to the Hills‘ bloodline–and maybe useful in the future-
He would’ve dumped Anna, that woman who’d slept her way through half the city, a long time ago.
Zera bit down hard on her lower lip, burning with humiliation.
She clenched her hands so tightly they trembled from the strain.
That old hag, Virginia knew exactly where to stab.
She’d basically just announced in front of everyone that Zera was cut from the same cloth as her birth mother–that they were both
trash.
Zera ground her molars together.
Fine, old woman. Just wait.
It was the first time in their lives that Thomas and Lilian had lowered themselves this far to apologize to anyone.
And somehow, Zera still managed to wreck it.
