Brad tried to talk some sense into Tyrone. “I know you’d do anything for that girl, but you’ve gotta know where the line is, You can’t go that hard.”
Tyrone glanced at Brad. “Is Zach dead?”
Brad let out a sigh. “Mr. Hill personally went into the operating room and barely managed to keep Zach alive. The Townsends are scrambling to get a private flight approved tonight to send him to the Mudrus.”
Tyrone frowned. “They’re not taking the illegitimate daughter with them?”
Brad shook his head. “Mrs. Hazel pinned the whole thing on Jenny. After the Townsends dropped Jenny off at the hospital for emergency treatment, they called her birth mother and washed their hands of her.”
A vague, knowing smirk tugged at the corner of Tyrone’s mouth.
Brad stood up and patted Tyrone on the shoulder. “Let this be the end of it. Don’t keep twisting the knife.”
Tyrone nodded.
After Brad left, Tyrone picked up the small mirror and checked his face one more time.
He grabbed the pillow and walked to the bedroom door.
Pressing his ear against it, he listened carefully for a moment–silence. Tyrone fished out a spare key he’d prepared in advance.
The bedroom door opened, and Tyrone slipped inside with the pillow.
By the faint glow filtering through the curtains, he placed his pillow right next to Aella’s and climbed into bed as quietly as possible.
He didn’t turn on a light. He barely made a sound as he settled in beside her.
Tyrone lay on his side, facing Aella, and gently drew her into his arms.
Holding that position, he closed his eyes and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.
He murmured, “Aella, just give me one last chance.”
Thinking back on everything that had happened tonight, a cold wave of fear washed through him all over again.
His arms around Aella tightened without him even realizing it.
Tyrone’s low, muffled voice called her name over and over, laced with a longing he couldn’t contain.
That night, Tyrone slept more deeply than he had in weeks.
Early the next morning, Aella woke up in Tyrone’s arms, and the first thing she saw was his face mere inches from hers. She nearly jumped out of her skin.
“Tyrone, how the hell did you get in here?”

Chapter 663 The Spare Key
Aella’s early–morning shriek jolted Tyrone awake from a dead sleep.
Tyrone sat up and, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, pulled Aella into his arms. “What’s wrong?”
Aella shoved him back. “Tyrone, who said you could come into the bedroom?”
Tyrone rubbed the spot on his chest where she’d pushed him, looking at her with eyes so tender it was almost absurd.
He leaned in again, his chest pressing against her back. “Let’s go wash up first. I’ll take you out for croissants.”
Aella rolled her eyes at him, huffed, and climbed off the bed before stomping to the bathroom.
Tyrone didn’t loosen his grip. If anything, he held her tighter.
He tried to explain. “Aella, what happened before was all on me. I wasn’t sure enough. I messed up. It was my fault.”
Tyrone knew that no matter how he tried to explain, Aella wouldn’t buy a word of it..
So all he could do was apologize for pulling away over and over again.

But Aella wasn’t having it. “Tyrone, do you have any shame at all?”

Aella went on. “I was crazy about you. I went out of my way to be good to you. And the second you got what you wanted, you wanted out. You really thought I couldn’t survive without you?”
Tyrone pulled her in tighter.
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, his voice low and strained, “I wasn’t trying to be irresponsible. I just wanted to give us both some time. I was scared.”
Wrapped tightly in Tyrone’s arms, Aella could feel the tremor of emotion running through him.
She calmed down and asked, “I’m not even scared. What do you have to be afraid of?”
Tyrone loosened his hold just a fraction.
The rims of his eyes tinged red, his voice rough and barely above a whisper. “I’m afraid.”
