**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 46**
Though Chris had accumulated years, his curiosity remained as vibrant as ever. He arched an eyebrow at Jasper, a mischievous glint in his eye.
“Alright, Jasper. Care to enlighten us? Since when did you become Ms. Whitley’s knight in shining armor?”
Jasper’s friends exchanged glances with Renee, then turned back to him, a knowing smile playing on their lips. They were all too aware of the backstory that had led to this moment.
It all traced back to that fateful trip to Seraph Island, a weekend the guys had planned for diving and adventure. Just before they set sail, they had stumbled upon Renee and her instructor, Harry.
Harry wasn’t merely a skilled scuba diver; he was also a surfing aficionado. Having taught Jasper and his friends the art of riding the waves on several occasions, they had formed a camaraderie.
As fate would have it, when Renee ventured out to sea with Harry, they crossed paths with the guys, who were also eager to dive into the azure depths.
The ocean had designated safety zones for deep diving, ensuring they weren’t too far apart. After exploring the underwater world for a while, Jasper and his friends encountered Harry once more.
But this time, he was alone.
Jasper, ever the casual one, had inquired about Renee’s whereabouts. The expression that flickered across Harry’s face was enough to send shivers down Jasper’s spine. Something was amiss. Without a moment’s hesitation, Jasper rallied his friends, and they plunged back into the sea, determined to find her.
In all honesty, had it not been for the collective effort of his friends, Jasper doubted he could have located Renee on his own.
Moreover, the stakes were high; Jasper’s family owned Seraph Island. A drowning incident under their watch would spell disaster for the Zeller family’s tourism business. The potential damage to their reputation and stock value would be unfathomable and hard to quantify.
Caspian chuckled, breaking the tension. “Hey, don’t forget, it wasn’t just Jasper who came to your rescue. We were all part of that search party. If we hadn’t gone back for you, you might have ended up as fish food!”
Sylas nodded vigorously, a grin plastered on his face. “Exactly! We all played a role in that rescue. Technically, you owe your life to the whole crew here.”
Conrad shot Renee a playful look. “So, if you’re planning on making toasts tonight, you better include us in your gratitude.”
Her heart raced, nearly faltering under the weight of his stare.
Jasper’s friends maintained their cool demeanor, opting not to elaborate on the full story. They kept it vague, merely saying they had saved Renee from a near-drowning incident, allowing the tension to linger in the air.
Meanwhile, Renee chose to keep the intricate details to herself. She was still quietly investigating the matter and preferred not to draw unnecessary attention to herself.
Adam, on the other hand, dismissed the near-drowning incident entirely. What mattered was that Renee was alive and thriving now, wasn’t she? But when he learned about who had saved her, his eyes sparkled with excitement.
Seizing the moment, he rushed over to the group, his enthusiasm palpable.
“Mr. Zeller, Mr. Klein, Mr. Thorne, Mr. Holbrook, you were the ones who saved my wife that day! I can’t express my gratitude enough,” Adam exclaimed, his smile wide and genuine.
He had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to connect with them, and now, at last, he had found it.
