A beautiful red-haired woman in casual attire sat behind a large desk, one leg crossed over the other as she placed one elbow on the desk, and supported her head with her curled fist.
Isolde turned to the side. Sunlight bathed the massive office her father once occupied.
It came from the looming window right behind her desk. Her eyes were on a document but her mind was adrift from its contents.
She recalled the vision she had last night. The second night after Godfrey left, and in that vision, she saw darkness shift like it was sentient.
It consumed an entire city, swallowing all the people.
The face of a little boy crying flashed in her eyes. She tried saving him, but the boy was taken by the darkness, and when it was about to consume her, she woke up.
’Is that the Ruination?’ Isolde’s eyes glinted.
She was certain that was the future, it was too obscure for her to grasp the full context. A vision of the Ruination could mean the number of Progenitors and Titled gods on earth was slowly nearing saturation.
This meant Godfrey was already a target. There were rogue gods, most likely people without any standing before this, who would want the money on Godfrey’s head or be hailed a hero after apprehending or killing him.
Godfrey was a global figure, both for good and bad reasons, most especially the bad due to propaganda. People who weren’t close to him would undoubtedly see a murderer and a Fanatic with a massive bounty on his head.
She did not want to be worried but who knew the kind of abilities these people could have, and what if he was ganged up on? A group of Titled gods against one would be quite the ordeal if she wasn’t there.
But then again, in this entire world, amongst billions, Godfrey alone was the only one growing without a mana fruit.
In a way, it looked as if everyone were being given fruits to catch up, but in reality, everyone needed the fruit, that’s how it had always been before mana came to earth. Godfrey was the exception that made the system feel trivial.
A little smirk curled up Isolde’s lips.
’What a man.’ She said inwardly (to herself).
Suddenly, there was a knock. Isolde glanced at the door. "Come in."
The door opened, revealing Isaac who walked in and sat down, exhaling deeply. He certainly had a burdened heart.
"You’re back early. I thought you wanted to clear your head and get stronger by reducing the number of gates. It’s only been a bit over a day." Isolde tilted her head as she turned to face the young man seated before her desk.
After Snow’s departure, everyone did their own thing. Godfrey had been gone two days now, Lucy had returned to paradise, and Isaac went hunting.
She, on the other hand, had been moving between the dragon domain and here, making sure work wasn’t accumulating.
Isaac interlocked his fingers, leaned forward, his elbows on his thighs as he looked into Isolde’s eyes.
"How is it that people are so different? Have you ever wondered why a person thinks the way they do?" He leaned back, exhaling again.
"Why can’t they see reason? What’s so hard to understand? I feel so frustrated and confused at the same time."
Isolde’s eyes softened as Isaac lowered his head.
"Is this about Neila?"
Isaac lifted up his head. "That obvious, huh?"
Isolde chuckled, then dropped the document she held. "You didn’t build a connection with her from a young age. You guys have only been together for not more than two months, your introduction was rough, and she’s a Titled god who has existed long before you."
