Godfrey looked at Gabriel. So... he had exceeded the Titled God Tier, perks of being a Favoured One; they might as well be the most loved entities in any chosen world. Many of them thought this was Gabriel’s summon, but Godfrey knew this was Gabriel himself, just revealing a bit of his true self.
To everyone, the man before them was an angel, but this was just one of his faces. The other ones would... cause terror.
Gabriel tilted his head after asking both sides to speak and hearing what they had to say. "Do you want to shatter this city? I doubt even if any of you win, there would be a place to call paradise any longer."
His eyes went to Godfrey. "He was grieving. He has always been a part of the Cohort, Captain Saul."
Saul stared into Gabriel’s eyes. "My word remains. I’m not his former Captain, I will kill him if he joins this cohort. It’s as simple as that."
Godfrey scoffed. "Thank you for the honour. But I’ll take the chance, a Demigod’s essence is attractive to anyone. You’re probably furious. I decided to come back on my own terms and not yours."
He tucked his hands into his pockets. "That’s too much pride, watch yourself, Captain Saul. This world is big."
Saul sneered and began to laugh.
"Very well," Gabriel said. "Godfrey is officially a member of the cohort and he has a right to the tournament. Captain Saul’s words stand, and there won’t be any retaliation if you’re to lose your life or your summons."
Gabriel looked at Godfrey, then split space and left. He sat down in his tower and made another move, knocking down another knight.
Meanwhile, Saul smirked, then turned and walked away. He touched the eye patch over one of his eyes, and his smirk slowly vanished.
As he cracked his neck, Arnold and the other two quickly followed him. After hesitating for a while, Arden and Oliver also left.
Saul couldn’t believe his luck. He was indeed trying to scare Godfrey away because he wanted to kill him away from paradise so his mother would have no idea, but since he was so adamant about dying, his wish would be granted.
He planned to kill him during the Ruination after all. Once the Ruination was over, Godfrey’s strength might not be as predictable; right now, with this global restriction, it was easy to set a maximum bar on anyone, making them predictable.
To Saul, anyone who wasn’t on his side was a threat. That was his law, the law of the jungle; he saw no use for them, none at all. There was no need to scheme, his iron fist handled it all.
"Who’s that?"
"Captain Arian’s student. I heard he was more talented than the Captain back then, but I think he’s pushing it with Captain Saul. It will be too late to regret it when the time comes."
"No doubt about that. I mean, just one of Captain Saul’s summons lifted the entire Colosseum, and that structure is bigger than a football field."
"That’s because that’s his strongest summon."
"It’s not! Have you seen what those Black Knights can do?"
"That summon is his first and his strongest!"
Ignoring the argument of two men in the dispersing crowd, Percival approached Godfrey.
"Everyone is looking at you like you’re going to lose without a doubt," he said.
"It wouldn’t be the first," Godfrey replied.
Percival held Godfrey’s right shoulder. "This isn’t Manhattan, these people acknowledge your strength and records, but they’ve seen something more absurd. I also felt the same thing."
"Trust me when I say there’s nothing more absurd than me." Godfrey sighed when he saw his mother in the dispersing crowd.
He turned to Percival. "I know what you mean, but if we let this continue, Saul will ruin the memories we have about this place. We already have Cain to worry about; we don’t need another one here."
"Here... Cain is here?!" Percival’s eyes widened. Cain, that was the only name that could make his eyes grow cold.
Godfrey’s eyes went to his father, whose expression was quite stern. He had just watched his son agree to a death contract.
"We should leave," Ronald said.

Saul walked into the hall with the Elites behind him. He paused when he was before the head seat. He grabbed it, and tilted his head toward the ceiling.
"You have a target. When you meet Godfrey’s summons, kill them. I trust you’ll handle those that they fail to defeat, Arnold," Saul said without turning back.
"Without a problem." Arnold’s Omen was originally an ancient god. This was what happened to most ancient gods after they died; they became Harrowing Omens of the Afterlife world, existences worse than the Obsidians.
If the Blood Omen went all out, it would be able to decimate most demigods.
