Faint sunlight leaked through the window, illuminating the room with a warm, natural light. A young woman with long red hair sprawled across the pillow like a pool of crimson silk, slept. Her eyelids trembled for a moment, then they slowly opened, revealing a pair of intimidating eyes that somehow seemed delicate due to her expression.
Isolde remembered the conversation she had with Godfrey. Soon the world would know about the House Of Order. It wouldn’t be a guild or a traditional club but an organisation.
And they had no need for many people since Godfrey alone had ten powerful summons, and she could also summon a dozen dragons. Both of them were enough to fill the numbers.
All that was left was to properly structure this organisation and the main figures involved.
Her lips bloomed into a sweet smile. This was a big change... Godfrey would cement himself as one of the global contenders on the surface and, behind the scenes, wage a fierce battle against Cain.
She was already planning for a conference, maybe something less official, but they had to seize the moment and bring humanoid summons to the spotlight.
Staten would be conquered in a single sweep. This was a revolution, against Cain, against the government, and against the Seven Heads.
Her heart jumped in excitement, like a kid that had just woken up on the day of their school party. But the moment Isolde sat up, the mesmerising glow on her face turned into bewilderment, then descended into shock.
"A fine morning." That voice wounded her ears, forcing her eyes to harden. She had grown deep affection for that voice, but it was different this time.
Isolde fixed her gaze on the being standing before the window. He faced it, hands clasped behind his back, while he tilted his head a bit to look at her.
He was made of shadows, clad in armour also made of shadows, with a golden sword strapped to the shadow belt at his waist. Although his head was also hidden behind a dark helmet, Isolde doubted there was anything other than shadows behind it.
One of his golden eyes was on her.
"Frey..." A name slipped out of her lips.
The Unknown King turned. "Frey... Somehow I resonate with that name, like a part of me I haven’t discovered. It could be why I saved you or why I brought you to this place. Tell me... who is this Frey?"
Isolde’s eyes widened. Her heart drummed. She couldn’t understand what this being was saying. What was going on here?
Was this a vision? The moment her mind thought about that, fear consumed Isolde. If she could realise that this was a vision, does that mean it was reality?
No one dreamed and knew they were dreaming.
"Who are you?"
The Unknown King tilted his head. "Now, you confuse me. You ask a question when I seek answers from you. Who am I? I feel like I’m a king. No... an emperor. It’s confusing, but at the same time, it’s not."
As the Unknown King approached, a terrible presence fell on Isolde. She was the Mother of Dragons. She had become a Matriarch, a true mother of countless dragons, but this feeling was deeply unsettling.
"There’s a part of me I feel is missing. A huge part of me, and it’s drawn me to you...." The Unknown King’s voice trailed off when he saw her expression.
He took a step back. "Trust me, I would have killed you where you stood, Mother of Dragons. But I cannot. I cannot draw my sword, and it puzzles me."
Shadows burst out of him, spreading out like a rift in space as his golden eyes pierced through it.
"Who is Frey?!"
Running out of patience, the Unknown King approached her with bold steps, his shadow mist moving with him, and when it was about to swallow her, sunlight pierced through the window.
Isolde felt her eyes clear, and she saw someone approaching her with the same steps.
His golden hair waved, and his ocean-blue eyes were filled with concern.
Godfrey grabbed Isolde’s arms.
"What is it?" He sat on the bed and drew her into his embrace.
He had just entered the room and saw her sitting on the bed, staring at nothing. Her eyes were glowing with violet light, so he immediately guessed it was a vision.
