Chloe Reed was on her way out of the villa when she heard a shout from behind her. She froze, and when she turned to look, the color drained from her face.

「The hospital.」

The smell of disinfectant permeated the air, and the atmosphere in the hospital room was somber.

She was sleeping deeply, looking frail.

The door to the hospital room swung open, and Sunny Reed rushed in. Though she wore a mask, it couldn’t conceal her anxious expression. "Dad, how’s Mom?"

Charles Reed’s expression was grim. "It’s nothing serious," he said. "Why are you wearing a mask? Do you have a cold?"

Sunny Reed instinctively glanced at Chloe Reed before shaking her head. "Yeah, I have a bit of a cold."

But Charles Reed didn’t miss the subtle gesture.

He said at once, "Take off your mask. Let me see."

But Sunny Reed shook her head. "I can’t. I really do have a cold. Mom’s already so frail. What if I get her sick?"

"Take it off."

Charles Reed’s expression darkened.

As if she had no other choice, Sunny Reed reluctantly removed her mask.

Her face was still slightly red and swollen, though it had improved a lot since the morning. It was obvious at a glance that she’d been hit.

Charles Reed glared at Chloe Reed. "You hit her?"

"That’s right."

Chloe Reed admitted it readily. "Does it look uneven? Should I fix the other side for her?"

Charles Reed was about to lose his temper, but a glance at the still-unconscious Autumn Linton made him suppress his anger.
