Everyone froze when he finished speaking.
Charles Reed frowned. "Walker, didn’t you hear what Sunny said?"
Walker Grant’s thumb stroked the back of Chloe Reed’s hand. He then looked at Charles Reed and said, "Dad, it’s late. This isn’t the time to discuss this. I’ll take Chloe home to rest. We’ll come see Mom tomorrow morning."
His gaze then shifted to Sunny Reed’s face, his eyes darkening slightly. "You left in a hurry. Where’s Noah?"
Sunny Reed’s mouth fell open, unable to react for a moment.
’After all I just said, he’s only concerned about Noah Grant?’
But she couldn’t show how flustered and angry she was. She could only compose herself and say, "Noah was already asleep when I left."
"Go back," Walker said calmly. "If Noah wakes up and doesn’t see you, he’ll be frightened and start crying. He’s only three; you need to look after him more."
Sunny Reed bit her lip. "But... my mom is still in a coma..."
"She won’t wake up just because you’re standing watch. In fact, you’ll just disturb her rest," Walker’s tone grew colder.
An invisible pressure emanated from him, making the atmosphere even more frigid than before. No one dared to argue.
Walker then took Chloe’s hand and left the hospital room.
This time, she didn’t struggle.
A complex, cold glint flashed in Walker’s eyes, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared.
Chloe Reed was certain she was the one who had saved Walker Grant.
But she didn’t trust Walker Grant.
He was so good to Sunny Reed, and to her child.
’What if he started to doubt me?’
’If he denied her sacrifice, what would she do?’
Outside the hospital, the night wind was chilling. The cold seeped through her skin, and she couldn’t help but shiver.
The car was parked right at the hospital entrance.
