"What!"
Hearing this, Madam Grant was horrified and immediately checked Noah Grant’s body.
She didn’t find any pinch marks, but she did see some scrapes on the little guy’s elbows and knees.
The scrape on his knee had even broken the skin.
"You vicious woman!"
Madam Grant glared at Chloe Reed, her finger trembling as she pointed at her. "He’s just a little boy! How could you lay a hand on him? Get out! Go kneel outside, and don’t get up until you’ve admitted your mistake. How could the Grant family have a venomous, black-hearted daughter-in-law like you!"
Chloe Reed’s brow furrowed. She looked at Noah Grant. "I pinched you? When did this happen?"
But Noah Grant just shrank into Madam Grant’s arms, looking terrified of her.
Heh...
’I saved an ungrateful little brat.’
’So much for being kind.’
The warmth drained from Chloe Reed’s eyes, inch by inch. She said bluntly, "I didn’t pinch him. He’s the one who went to a bar by himself, saying he was looking for his mother. Sunny Reed is the irresponsible one who doesn’t watch her child. Why don’t you discipline her? What’s the point of targeting me?"
Madam Grant snorted coldly. "She is her, and you are you. You will be punished today. To lay a hand on a small child... you are truly vicious!"
As soon as she finished speaking, two burly maids came over, dragged Chloe Reed outside, and forcefully pushed her to her knees on the cobblestone path.
"Let me go!"
Chloe Reed struggled, but she was no match for the two maids. They were very strong, holding her down firmly and refusing to let her get up.
Chloe Reed’s eyes blazed with fury. Her lips trembled so violently she couldn’t utter a single word.
’Is this karma coming back to bite me so quickly, all because I showed a moment of kindness to an ungrateful brat?’
She had always thought it was Sunny Reed who used Noah Grant, having him act pitiful to win the Grants’ sympathy.
But she never, ever imagined that a child of only three could already lie!
She was devastated, heartbroken!
Once upon a time, she had been kind to this child, too. She had ignored her grudge with Sunny Reed. For Walker’s sake, and because she respected his elder brother Julian, she had bought toys and clothes for Noah Grant, and had held him in her arms many times.
’It turns out all her kindness had been wasted on an ungrateful little brat!’

The lights were bright. He stood in the light, looking at the woman who watched him from the dim shadows.
