Sunny Reed froze for a moment. Her gaze swept across the dining hall, and she quickly spotted Chloe Reed sitting by the window.
She was having a meal with a man.
Sunny Reed raised an eyebrow, then followed Walker Grant over to them.
Chloe Reed, of course, saw him, but she pretended she hadn’t.
She lowered her gaze and quietly continued to eat.
"Miles Hawthorne."
But Walker Grant walked right over, sat down at the table next to theirs, and greeted Miles Hawthorne.
Miles Hawthorne turned around, looking surprised. "Hey, you’re eating here too? And this is...?"
His eyes landed on Noah in Walker Grant’s arms.
"My older brother’s son," Walker Grant said calmly.
"Hello, sir."
Noah greeted Miles Hawthorne politely.
Then, he looked at Chloe Reed. He seemed a little scared, but he still spoke up. "Hello, Auntie."
Miles Hawthorne suddenly burst out laughing.
Walker Grant, however, frowned. "That’s not how you greet her. You call me your younger uncle, so you should call her your younger aunt."
Noah didn’t understand why, but he nodded obediently. "Hello, Younger Aunt."
Chloe Reed glanced at him coolly. "You’re not scared of me anymore?"
Noah instinctively shrank back into Walker Grant’s arms.
Walker Grant’s gaze fell on her, his eyes hardening. "Stop scaring the kid."
"Hah."
Chloe Reed let out a cold laugh.
Chloe’s expression instantly turned cold. Then, she let out a mocking laugh. "Nope. What are you going to do? Kill me?"
The moment they clashed, the air grew thick with tension.
Seeing this, Miles Hawthorne quickly stepped in. "Whoa, whoa, let’s not. Killing someone is illegal, you know. Both of you, just calm down. You were a couple for eight years, for crying out loud. Can’t you be a little more civil?"
Walker Grant ignored him, his gaze still fixed on Chloe Reed, so intense it was as if he wanted to devour her whole.
Chloe Reed had lost her appetite. She put down her chopsticks and looked at Miles Hawthorne. "I’m heading out. Just contact me later about it."
Miles Hawthorne nodded. "Alright."
Chloe Reed got up and walked away, her steps quick, as if she were trying to escape from someone.
Miles Hawthorne turned to look at Walker Grant, about to say something, but saw him get up and follow her.
He raised an eyebrow, then looked away and leisurely went back to eating.
At that moment, however, Sunny Reed asked, "You just got back in the country, what business would you have with Chloe? I remember you have a team of lawyers, don’t you? Did she ask you to help her with the divorce case?"
