When Sunny Reed saw her, she grabbed Chloe’s hand and pulled her toward the stairwell.
Chloe’s face immediately turned cold. "What are you doing? Let go!"
But Sunny held on for dear life, her face contorted.
Once they were in the stairwell, she finally let go of Chloe’s hand. With red-rimmed eyes, she asked, "Sister, did you deliberately rush to meet Preston Vance before I could?"
Chloe crossed her arms and scoffed. "What do you mean, ’deliberately’? It’s a matter of skill. You’re going to blame me just because you couldn’t get it?"
Sunny bit her lip. "Walker already promised me he’d let me be the one to contact Vance Group and facilitate the partnership between them and Reed Group. Sister, how could you stand in my way?"
As she listened, Chloe’s expression grew colder, and a look of disgust crept into her eyes.
"Then you should go find Walker Grant and ask him why he’s so useless that he couldn’t even secure a simple partnership for you," she said coldly, turning to leave.
She was in no mood to listen to Sunny’s nonsense.
But Sunny grabbed her again. "Sister, why do you always have to compete with me? I’m just the adopted daughter. I just want to repay Mom and Dad for raising me. Why can’t you even give me this one opportunity?"
"Let go!"
Chloe yanked her hand away. She was disgusted by Sunny’s touch.
"Ah!"
But to her surprise, Sunny suddenly cried out, followed by the sound of a body tumbling down the stairs.
Chloe whipped her head around just in time to see Sunny tumbling down the stairs!
Sunny lay in a heap on the landing below, her face pale and twisted in agony.
"Holy shit, what happened?"
Someone happened to walk in from downstairs, looking for a place to smoke. He saw Sunny lying on the ground and rushed over to check on her.
Sunny pointed a trembling finger at Chloe. "You... why did you push me..."
