Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce novel Chapter 198

Chapter 198: Chapter 198: To Protect Sunny Reed, He’ll Agree, Right?

"Sunny Reed is my sister-in-law. For my big brother’s sake, I’ll look out for her. But Chloe is my wife, and I won’t allow anyone to hurt her."

Walker Grant’s voice was low and heavy, his presence oppressive. He didn’t spare Charles Reed another glance.

He turned his gaze back to Chloe Reed on the hospital bed. The treatment for her back injury was nearly complete.

They had disinfected and dressed the wounds, and now she needed an anti-inflammatory shot.

The gurney was wheeled into a private room. Walker Grant gave a low-voiced order to the bodyguard, "No one but me is to enter this room."

The bodyguard responded, "Yes, sir."

Charles Reed was barred from entering. His face was dark, and Walker Grant’s attitude infuriated him.

’I’m his father-in-law!’

’How dare he be so disrespectful?!’

He snorted and turned to leave.

’Does Walker really think he can keep being this rude to me?’

’That’s completely impossible, in my opinion.’

...

The night deepened, and the hospital room was exceptionally quiet.

Chloe Reed was woken by pain. She gasped as waves of it pulsed from her back.

She opened her eyes to find herself lying on her side with an IV drip in her hand. Walker Grant was sitting by the bed.

Seeing she was awake, he asked, "Thirsty?"

Chloe Reed’s eyes were lifeless. "You can stop me once, but you won’t be able to stop me the second time," she said, her voice dry and rasping. "As long as you refuse to divorce me, I won’t spare her."

Walker Grant’s handsome brows knitted together. "Chloe, is it worth hurting yourself over other people?"

"I’m doing this for myself."

Chloe Reed’s tone was remarkably calm. "If going to jail is what it takes to divorce you, then that’s a price I’m willing to pay."

A vein throbbed in Walker Grant’s temple. His breathing was heavy, his chest tight with a knot of frustration that wouldn’t go away.

Chloe Reed’s delicate brows remained knitted in a frown. Because of the injury to her back, something deep inside her had utterly collapsed.

’I really should get a DNA test done with Charles Reed and Autumn Linton,’ she thought.
