The dishes were served, all of them to Grandma’s liking.
Chloe Reed was on edge the entire time.
Her eyes kept darting to Walker Grant, waiting for him to say something. If he did, she was ready to stop him.
To her surprise, he didn’t say what she was dreading. He just made small talk with Grandma.
After dinner, they returned to Jardinelle together. The housekeeper had already prepared the guest room, so Grandma would be staying there.
Chloe Reed said, "I’ll sleep with you tonight."
"Alright," Grandma said, nodding with a smile.
Chloe went upstairs to get her pajamas, but just as she was about to leave, Walker Grant blocked the doorway.
She eyed him warily. "What are you doing?"
Walker Grant crossed his arms. His long, narrow eyes were dark and his voice was low. "You looked at me a lot during dinner."
Chloe said, "So?"
Walker’s gaze fell to her lips. "It left me parched. I want to kiss you."
Chloe was speechless.
’This man is seriously sick in the head!’
Her expression turned cold. "We’re in the middle of a divorce, Walker. If you’re lonely, you can go find Sunny Reed, or any other woman for that matter. I won’t stop you."
Walker’s expression darkened instantly.
’She’s pushing me away again!’
He said coldly, "Chloe, I don’t like hearing that."
An icy aura spread from him, and his gaze turned chillingly cold.
Chloe wanted to retort with a sarcastic remark, but she was still a little intimidated by him, so she held her tongue. "It’s getting late," she said instead. "I need to go to Grandma."
But Walker said, "Even if you don’t go right away, Grandma will just assume we’re... getting intimate."
Chloe was so angry she couldn’t speak.
