Autumn Linton frowned slightly, her tone tinged with displeasure. "Chloe, what is this attitude? My mother is sick and in the hospital. Of course I’m going to be here to take care of her."
Chloe Reed stared at her in disbelief, amazed by her nerve.
’After saying all those awful things to Grandma, she still has the gall to show her face!’
’It’s just unbelievable!’
Chloe Reed’s expression grew cold. "Go home," she said. "You’re not needed here. I’ll take good care of my grandma."
But Autumn Linton shook her head. "I’m not leaving. I’m staying to take care of my mom."
She turned to the old woman. "Mom, how about I stay here with you?"
"Fine."
The old woman didn’t object.
Chloe Reed didn’t understand. Her elegant brows furrowed, but she wouldn’t interfere with her grandmother’s decision.
Charles Reed arrived just then. "Chloe," he said, "how could you not tell us something as major as your grandmother being hospitalized? You have no sense of what’s important."
Chloe Reed asked coolly, "Then how did you find out?"
Charles Reed snorted. "Sunny told us. She has a friend at your company. Your boss came to visit, right? She found out and told us right away. If it weren’t for her, we’d still be in the dark about your grandmother being hospitalized."
A wave of annoyance washed over Chloe Reed.
Autumn Linton turned to the old woman. "Mom, you haven’t met Sunny yet, have you? She’s the daughter Charles and I adopted. She’s so gentle and considerate, poised and very pretty. She’s quite concerned about you, but she was worried you might not like her, so she didn’t come."
The old woman looked at her and asked, "Since you already had Chloe, why adopt another daughter?"
