"I won’t," the old woman said at once. "Come by anytime. I enjoy talking with you. And Chloe seems to get along well with you, too. You two should spend more time together."

"Okay."

Just then, Chloe Reed walked out of her room, wearing a face mask.

"Preston, you’re here." Her eyes lit up.

Preston Vance nodded. "I didn’t disturb you, did I?"

"Not at all. My room is very well soundproofed." Chloe Reed smiled faintly, her eyes crinkling. Her voice came out a bit hoarse and muffled.

Preston Vance said, "Perfect timing. I just brought over some soup. Have a taste and see if you like it."

"Mm, okay."

Aunt Lewis had already poured the soup into a bowl. Chloe Reed took a sip, then gave him a thumbs-up. "This is delicious."

Preston Vance watched her with a gentle expression. "If you like it, have some more. This soup is very nourishing. It should help you recover faster."

"Then I’ll definitely finish it all," Chloe Reed said, taking small sips.

Just then, Preston Vance’s phone rang. He answered it, then said to her, "Something just came up. I have to go."

"Okay."

Chloe Reed walked him to the door.

Preston Vance suddenly looked at her and said, "Just have the thermos sent to my place when you’re done with it."

"Okay."

Chloe Reed nodded.

Preston Vance gave her a gentle smile. "Alright, go get some rest. You don’t have to see me out."

The door closed, and Chloe Reed put her mask back on.

Aunt Lewis then asked, "Miss Reed, would you like another bowl?"
