Chapter 384: Chapter 384: Sometimes, He’s a Person

"Miss Reed, I’ve been trying to call you, but I couldn’t get through. I just found out something happened. Are you hurt?" Daniel Hayes’s tone was frantic.

’He had only just left, and something like this happened. Someone must have been watching him!’

Chloe Reed closed her eyes and said, "I’m at the hospital. I’m fine. Walker Grant is seriously injured, and the two bodyguards are badly hurt, too. Go take care of them."

Daniel Hayes said, "I’ve already arranged for them to be taken to the hospital. I’m on my way to you now."

Chloe replied, "Okay."

She told him which hospital she was at, then promptly hung up.

She was soaked through. A chill seeped into her skin, leaving her trembling uncontrollably. The pungent smell of disinfectant filled her nose, and when she glanced down, she saw her hands were stained with blood.

She found a restroom and turned on the faucet to wash her hands.

’She was terrified—so terrified she was still trembling.’

’She had come close to death so many times now.’

’Someone wanted her dead.’

’They were doing everything in their power to kill her.’

Chloe Reed braced her hands on the counter, trying hard to suppress the fear rising in her heart.

"Miss Reed? Miss Reed?"

Daniel Hayes’s anxious voice called from outside.

Chloe Reed walked out, her face exceptionally pale. "I’m here."

Daniel Hayes breathed a sigh of relief. He looked her up and down and asked, "Are you sure you’re not hurt? Should we have you checked out?"

Chloe Reed shook her head. "No."

Then, she gave a bitter smile. "If it weren’t for Walker Grant, I almost would have died today."

Daniel Hayes’s expression was complicated. He said, "Sometimes, he’s actually human."
