"T-Take him away first. I... I need to go home..."
Chloe Reed’s mind was a chaotic mess, and the sensations in her body grew more intense.
She braced herself against the wall and stumbled outside. Just then, the waitress returned. Seeing the strange color on Chloe Reed’s face, she quickly asked, "Wh-What’s wrong with you? Miss, please don’t scare me!"
Chloe Reed grabbed her arm. "Take me to a hotel."
’I can’t go home.’
’If I go home, Grandma will see me like this. She’ll definitely worry.’
The waitress was frantic. "Miss, what’s happening to you? I should take you to a hospital."
But Chloe Reed shook her head. "A nearby hotel will be fine."
"O-Okay..."
The waitress supported her as they left, with Daniel Hayes following close behind, dragging the man with him.
Once they got a room at the hotel, Chloe Reed went straight into the bathroom and turned on the cold water, dousing herself.
The icy water suppressed the effects of the intoxicating drug, and her consciousness cleared slightly.
Outside the door, the waitress was still asking with concern, "Miss, are you all right?"
"I’m fine," Chloe Reed replied.
The waitress sighed in relief, then added, "You really scared me just now. And... and that man outside is still holding onto another man. Who are they? They’re so scary."
Chloe Reed didn’t say anything. Only after the sensation had been completely washed away did she dry herself off and step out.
Her face was pale and bluish from the cold. The waitress handed her the new clothes she had bought. After putting them on, Chloe said, "You can go back now."
The waitress asked cautiously, "Miss, are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?"
Chloe Reed shook her head. "No need. You bought me clothes and burn cream, which is compensation enough. I won’t pursue this matter."
The waitress looked at her, her face full of gratitude. "Miss, you’re so kind. I’ll be on my way, then."
