Hearing her, Charles Reed nodded emphatically. "Aunt Bowman is right. She should be the one to find my real child."
But Autumn Linton said, "How could we ask that? She’s already so disappointed in us..."
"Autumn," Charles Reed sighed, looking at her. "Think about Eleanor. She entrusted Sunny to us, but we failed to take care of her. Now she’s missing, and it’s all because of Chloe Reed. Don’t you think she should do something to make up for it?"
Autumn Linton’s lips trembled, but in the end, she didn’t say no.
’In fact, she even thought Charles was right.’
’If Chloe had just behaved, would Sunny have been mistreated so many times?’
’And now, she’s vanished completely.’
It was the news of Sunny’s disappearance that had caused her to suddenly fall so gravely ill.
In her heart, she blamed Chloe, too.
She had wanted to mend things with Chloe before because she thought she was her daughter. But now that she knew the truth, there was no reason to hold back.
Susan Bowman said, "I’ll help you. Since she’s the one who started all this, she has to do something to fix it."
"..."
Back at Maplewood Gardens, Chloe stayed by her grandmother’s side. She was afraid her grandmother would be heartbroken and wanted to comfort her.
But a look of exhaustion appeared on the old woman’s face. "Chloe, don’t worry about me," she said. "I’ll just take a nap. I’ll be fine after some rest."
Chloe Reed nodded. "Okay."
When she came out of the room, she saw Walker Grant sitting on the sofa. His sharp, handsome features were a little pale as he stared down at his phone.
Chloe Reed said, "You can go home now."
Hearing this, Walker Grant looked up at her. "I’m waiting for you."
"I’m not leaving tonight," Chloe said. "I can’t leave my grandmother here alone."
