Upon hearing the doctor’s words, Chloe Reed swayed and nearly lost her footing.
Thankfully, Walker quickly put an arm around her shoulder, steadying her.
Walker’s sharp brows knitted together. "Are you sure it’s poisoning?"
The doctor nodded. "Yes, we’re sure."
Walker asked in a low voice, "How long will the lab results take?"
The doctor’s expression was just as grim. "I can’t say for sure. The components of the poison are incredibly complex. We’ll have to run a full screening..."
He looked conflicted and sighed. "But she’s elderly, after all, and she just had surgery to remove a brain tumor. It’s hard to say how long she can hold on."
Chloe Reed’s nails dug into her palms. "Please, you have to identify the components of the poison as quickly as possible. I’m begging you..."
Tears fell from her eyes, and she was overcome with anguish.
At the same time, hatred and fury erupted in her heart!
’Monster!’
’Autumn Linton is an absolute monster!’
’How could she do this!’
’That’s her own mother!’
Chloe’s hands clenched into fists. She spun around abruptly and strode out.
Iris Yates hurried after her. "Chloe, where are you going?"
Chloe’s face was cold. "Poisoning Grandma... isn’t this just their way of forcing my hand? I’m going to go ask them exactly what they want!"
By now, she was certain. It was Autumn Linton who had poisoned her grandmother.
Whether Susan Bowman had a hand in it was still just a suspicion, but she was sure Susan was involved somehow!
