He grew vexed again. ’What’s the point of this cold war between us, especially with things so tense right now?’
There was no longer a place for him in her heart.
Whatever he did, she wouldn’t care.
That was why he had come home especially early today.
His dark gaze was locked on her smiling face, his heart trembling softly.
He walked straight over to her. She saw him, and the smile on her face immediately vanished.
’She really hates seeing me that much?’
A surge of frustration rose deep within him, and Walker Grant grabbed her wrist.
Chloe Reed’s elegant brows furrowed. "What are you doing?"
She looked at him with a guarded expression.
As if he were some kind of terrifying beast.
Walker Grant lowered his gaze slightly, his voice flat. "I have a lead on that matter."
Chloe Reed stopped struggling for a second, and he immediately pulled her up and dragged her into the villa.
Annie York stood to the side, her eyes fixed on Walker Grant’s back. She had wanted to greet him, but he hadn’t noticed her at all.
From beginning to end, his gaze never left Chloe Reed.
Annie York lowered her eyes in disappointment and bit her lip.
The old woman watched their retreating figures and asked, "Where are they off to?"
Annie York replied, "Mr. Grant and Chloe have something to talk about. Grandma, should we keep looking around?"
After a few seconds, the old woman shook her head. "No, I’m tired. Oh, right. Do you have a phone? Could I borrow it for a moment?"
