She had thought Noah Grant’s complications would be like her grandmother’s, just a slowing of his reflexes, but she never imagined they would be this severe.
Grief filled Walker Grant’s sharp eyes, and his voice grew hoarse. "I’ll assemble a medical team to develop a treatment plan specifically for his condition. I will get him to walk again."
For a moment, Chloe Reed didn’t know what to say. Her heart was a tangle of emotions. Seeing Noah Grant in such a pitiful state, she suddenly didn’t care so much about whose child he was.
’He was brought to this by his own birth mother. He’s already suffered so much.’
’If I treat him coldly too, forcing him to live in constant fear, wouldn’t that just make his life even more miserable?’
Walker Grant watched the change in her expression. He didn’t have to say a word to know she had softened.
Walker Grant said hoarsely, "I’m going out for a bit. I’ll be back soon."
"Okay."
...
「Grant Family Estate.」
Sunny Reed had been locked in a servant’s room. No one came to open the door, no matter how much she yelled. She only got one meal a day. She was starving, weak, and utterly drained of energy.
Lying on the bed, she felt all hope was lost.
Just then, the door to the room opened. She shot up, but the sudden movement made a wave of dizziness wash over her. It took her a long moment to recover.
Walker Grant stood in the doorway, his presence sharp and imposing. His jet-black eyes watched her without a trace of warmth.
Sunny Reed cowered, her face growing even paler.
"Where did you take my son? I want to see him." Sunny Reed swallowed hard, forcing herself to stay calm.
"You don’t have the right to see him."
Walker Grant’s voice was exceptionally cold.
