Nathaniel Monroe: "..."
The man Walker Grant had sent for arrived quickly. It turned out to be Daniel Hayes.
Nathaniel Monroe thought he looked familiar. "Have I seen you somewhere before?" he asked.
Daniel Hayes grinned. "You have. I’m always by Miss Chloe’s side."
"Then why are you taking orders from Walker?" Nathaniel Monroe asked, looking at him suspiciously. "Does my sister-in-law know about this?"
Daniel Hayes nodded. "I’m only here because Miss Chloe approved it. Now, come on. Less talk, more action. Make your move, Young Master Monroe."
Nathaniel Monroe: "..."
「Ten minutes later.」
Nathaniel Monroe was sprawled on the ground, his face pale and his injured thigh trembling uncontrollably.
Daniel Hayes called Walker Grant. "It’s no good," he said. "This kid hasn’t recovered at all. He’ll need another week or two. And even when he’s healed, he’ll need more training. His fundamentals are too weak. If he goes abroad now, he’ll be dead in minutes."
Nathaniel Monroe: "..."
’Was he really that weak?!’
Daniel Hayes walked over and handed him the phone. "Walker wants to talk to you."
Nathaniel Monroe took the phone and said dejectedly, "Walker, I just want to bring her back as soon as possible."
"I know." Walker Grant’s tone was placid. "But in your current condition, you won’t just fail to bring her back—you’ll end up losing yourself in the process."
Lying on the floor, Nathaniel Monroe stared at the ceiling, his eyes vacant. "I think about her every single day. I’m afraid she’s being bullied, that she’s getting hurt. I..."
Walker Grant said, "Worrying is useless. She can’t come back, and your injury won’t heal any faster. Focus on recovering and improving your skills. When we find her, I’ll let you know."
