"What did he say to you?"
Walker looked at her, his expression back to normal.
Chloe Reed didn’t hide anything and told him about the misunderstanding with Preston Vance.
At her words, Walker’s eyes darkened. "An apology is nowhere near enough," he said coldly.
He walked over to her. "If no one had been there to protect you, can you even imagine what would have happened?"
Chloe Reed’s brow furrowed slightly, but she said nothing.
Walker said, "When he comes again, I’m going with you."
"What are you planning to do?" Chloe looked up, her gaze questioning.
Walker’s thin lips curled into a cold smirk. "To make that brother and sister bleed, of course. To compensate you for your emotional distress."
Chloe was speechless for a moment. ’He’s like a bandit,’ she thought. ’Given the chance, he’d bare his fangs and tear a pound of flesh right off them. But then again, there’s nothing wrong with what he’s doing. He’s standing up for me, righting a wrong on my behalf.’
Chloe said nothing, simply walking into the villa.
The Old Madam held Noah in her arms, her warm, dry hand stroking the child’s back, soothing him.
Noah’s small face was pale, and his expression was utterly dejected.
A pang of sorrow went through Chloe as she watched them.
Noah Grant used to be so lively, but now he was utterly melancholic. His frail, pale appearance was heartbreaking to see.
"Noah, would you like to go to the amusement park?"
Chloe asked, taking a couple of steps forward.
Noah looked at her, his eyes lighting up. But the light quickly faded as he glanced down at his legs. "Aunt Chloe, I can’t walk."
Chloe’s heart ached. "That’s okay," she said. "We can carry you, or you can use a wheelchair. We’ll all have fun together."
Noah’s eyes lit up again. "Really?"
"Of course." A gentle smile played on Chloe’s lips, her eyes soft and warm. "You can do whatever you want."
