"You might not hurt her, but others will."
Walker Grant spoke, glancing at Ivy Vance, whose face had gone pale and grim.
Hearing this, Ivy Vance’s face grew even more grim.
Preston Vance’s tone was exceptionally serious as he said, "I can guarantee it. She will absolutely never do anything to hurt Chloe again. I’ll discipline her properly."
"You can never truly know what someone is thinking. How can you guarantee her intentions won’t change?" Walker was relentless, shooting a glacial look at Ivy Vance.
Ivy Vance’s face paled even more.
Preston Vance’s brow furrowed. ’It’s obvious Walker just doesn’t want me to speak with Chloe alone. These are all just excuses; it’s his possessiveness acting up.’
He looked to Chloe, wanting her to make the decision.
’He probably won’t object to whatever she decides,’ he thought, ’even if I’m still not sure what their relationship is.’
Walker appeared outwardly composed, but he kept sneaking glances at Chloe’s face.
’I’ve already said no.’
’What will she do?’
Chloe hadn’t expected to be caught in such a predicament when she thought the matter was already resolved.
She glanced at Preston and saw the gentle apology in his eyes, his hesitant expression showing he had something to say.
She hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded. "Okay."
The tension on Preston’s brow eased slightly. He shot a subtle glance at Walker, then said to Chloe, "Let’s go. We can take a stroll downstairs. We’ll talk as we walk."
"Mm."
The two of them left the room, one after the other.
Walker’s expression didn’t change much, but the chill emanating from him intensified.
But Walker didn’t even pause. He had absolutely no interest in anything Ivy wanted to say.
