Silence fell over the hospital room, followed by the sound of rustling gauze.
Chloe Reed stood aside, watching, so nervous her breathing grew taut.
Fiona Linton carefully examined Walker Grant’s eyes, then dabbed a bit of the ointment on them with a cotton swab and sniffed it. After a moment of careful identification, she said, "This medicine only serves to relieve pain. It does nothing to help your vision recover."
Walker Grant’s expression remained unchanged. He asked, "Then, Doctor Linton, do you have a solution?"
"I do."
Fiona Linton tossed the cotton swab, rewrapped the gauze around his eyes, then pulled over a nearby chair and sat down. She took his wrist to check his pulse.
Walker Grant’s fingers twitched, curling slightly.
"Hey, don’t hit me! I’m just checking your pulse!" Fiona Linton said quickly, sensing his reaction.
"Mm."
Walker Grant grunted in acknowledgment and remained still.
Seeing him relax, Fiona Linton let out a breath of relief. She turned to Chloe Reed and said, "Your husband is so intimidating. How do you put up with him?"
Walker Grant’s eyebrow twitched. ’Did she really just say that to my face?’
’That’s not very appropriate, is it?’
Chloe Reed’s gaze flickered for a moment, but she didn’t answer the question.
After checking the pulses in both of his wrists, Fiona Linton said, "I have a general treatment plan in mind. Next, I’ll use acupuncture and herbal decoctions for the initial detoxification. The treatment steps for you and your wife are the same. We’ll start by detoxing, then see where we’re at."
"Thank you."
Walker Grant’s tone softened slightly. "I’ll have my executive assistant contact you."
Fiona Linton’s eyes lit up. "Are you going to write me a check? Wow, will it be a blank one for me to fill out?"
Walker Grant said, "If you can cure us, you can have anything you want."
Fiona Linton’s eyes grew even brighter. She rubbed her hands together eagerly. "Great, great, great! I’ll definitely do my best. Once I cure you two, I’ll be set for life!"
With that, she left the room to find the hospital’s doctor and get his previous test results.
"Chloe."
