Chapter 683: Chapter 683: I Won’t Do It

Fiona Linton didn’t want to hear him ramble on, so she immediately held up a hand to cut him off. "You work like a robot. It’s obvious you’re single. Forget it, forget it. I’m not asking you. It’d be pointless anyway."

With that, she turned and walked away.

Dylan Finch’s expression stiffened. He slowly lowered his hand, composed himself, and then knocked on the door to the hospital room.

As Dylan Finch delivered his report, Chloe Reed sat nearby, listening in. It quickly became clear to her that even though Walker Grant couldn’t see, he still had a lot to deal with.

Even being hospitalized hadn’t lightened his workload much.

She pursed her lips, a pang of bitterness welling up inside her.

Dylan Finch glanced at Chloe Reed, then continued, "Additionally, the business arrangements for the seaside property are as follows..."

His speech was deliberately slow.

Walker Grant turned toward Chloe Reed and said, "Chloe, I’d like some coffee."

At his words, Chloe Reed frowned. She picked up her phone and typed, "Are you allowed to have coffee?"

Walker Grant said, "Why don’t you ask Doctor Linton?"

"Mm."

Chloe Reed stood and left the room.

Quick on the uptake, Nathaniel Monroe walked over, closed the door, and stood guard outside to prevent anyone from entering.

Walker Grant turned toward Dylan Finch. "Go on."

Dylan Finch lowered his voice. "We received a message from Mr. Quinn. The Holloway Family is currently fighting over a project. The children have been using all sorts of schemes, and none of them have come out of it unscathed. Also, Vera Holloway has left Breyburn. She shouldn’t be showing up around here again anytime soon."

Walker Grant grunted in acknowledgment. "And what’s the word from Lucas Shaw?"

A complicated look appeared in Dylan Finch’s eyes. He hesitated for a moment before replying, "President Shaw said provoking the Holloway Family is too risky. He said he’s only got one life and isn’t willing to gamble it..."

In truth, there was one part of the message he’d left out, knowing Mr. Grant would be furious if he heard it.

Lucas Shaw, in his typically cavalier way, had put it bluntly: "Chloe Reed isn’t my damn woman. Why should I stick my neck out for her? Walker Grant doesn’t value his own life, but I sure as hell value mine. I haven’t earned enough money yet, and I don’t have a death wish."
