Preston Vance raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Are you treating me to dinner?"
Chloe Reed: "..."
She blinked in confusion. ’Was that what I meant?’
But Preston Vance just smiled. "Alright, then. I’ll be waiting for you to treat me to dinner. I won’t post it on social media this time."
Chloe Reed: "..."
She sat frozen in her chair, a dazed look on her face. Preston Vance, however, was perfectly relaxed as he picked up his coffee and began to drink.
’Fine.’
’Now that he’s put it that way, how can I refuse?’
’Wouldn’t that seem too unreasonable?’
She silently picked up her coffee and began drinking as well.
The light snow had stopped at some point. A thin layer settled on the ground, then quickly vanished.
The trace of sadness in Chloe’s heart melted away with it, bit by bit, just like the snow.
Her heart returned to a state of calm.
But just then, her phone rang.
She took it out and saw it was a call from Walker Grant. Her elegant brows furrowed instantly.
Ever since she lost her voice, he had never called her. If he needed something, he would send a text.
’What’s gotten into him this time?’
Chloe immediately hung up and sent a question mark in their chat window.
’Someone is with him; they’ll surely tell him what I sent.’
But a moment later, his phone was ringing again.
A flash of resignation crossed Chloe’s clear eyes as she answered the call.
"Chloe."
The man’s deep, magnetic voice came through, colored with extreme tenderness. "I miss you."
