Chloe Reed’s fingers clenched into tight fists. Unable to calm the turmoil in her heart, she abruptly stood and headed for the door.
"Stop."
But Walker Grant’s calm voice called out.
Chloe Reed said, "Did you bring me here just to torture me? To make me watch you treat someone else’s child so well? For this child, you even got a vasectomy..."
She took a deep breath, her chest feeling as if it were being pricked by countless tiny needles. The pain made it hard to breathe.
"How could you be such a bastard?"
Walker Grant’s brow furrowed. "I wanted you to bond with Noah."
"Impossible!"
Chloe Reed spun around to face him. "First, because of him, you’ve neglected me and lied to me about so many things. I can’t forgive you. Second, he’s Sunny Reed’s child. I hate Sunny Reed, so there’s no way I’m getting along with her kid. I suggest you drop the idea."
Seeing her solemn expression, her eyes cold and glittering with a shattered light, Walker Grant’s brow furrowed.
"SOB... SOB..."
The tense atmosphere frightened Noah Grant, and he burst into tears.
Walker Grant held him and said soothingly, "Don’t cry. Your uncle and auntie aren’t fighting."
Noah Grant sobbed, tears clinging to his eyelashes.
Chloe Reed sneered. "Like mother, like son. He’s really learned her tricks—crying on command. Most people could never master a skill like that."
"Don’t be so harsh."
Walker Grant frowned at her. "He’s just a child."
Chloe Reed gave him a sarcastic look. "You’re the one who insisted on bringing me here. Now that I’m speaking my mind, you’re not happy."
Walker Grant felt a wave of exhaustion, and a spark of irritation ignited in his chest.
But the little boy was still in his arms, so he had to keep his emotions in check.
