Chapter 102 The Red Ball
The pressure disappeared almost as soon as it arrived.
The giant wolf shadow had not manifested to challenge anyone’s spirit form.
It had only used one sweep of its tail to clear Kane Brooks and the others out of the way, then lowered itself obediently under Julian’s landing point.
So the little Omega did not smash into the ground.
He landed on the soft wolf shadow, bounced once, then slid down its tail as if he were getting off a slide.
By the time he stopped, he was right in front of Wesley Knox.
The shadow vanished.
Ruin, round and silver-white, shot back into Julian’s arms like a tiny missile.
Julian finally opened his eyes, still half asleep, and looked at Wesley.
‘Good morning.”
Wesley had just prepared to say there was nothing good about it when Julian rubbed his face against the wolf cub, who was still “awooing” unhappily.
‘Or bad morning. Up to you.”
Wesley went silent.
Having you as a teammate is truly my blessing.
No matter how much chaos his entrance caused, Julian had slept all the way here and still arrived right before the draw closed.
He had not wanted to draw in the first place.
The academy, however, insisted the manufacturer draw for the pilot to show cooperatfon between Mecha Engineering and Mecha Piloting.
So in the spirit of fairness, Julian caught Ruin’s small paw and tried to dip it into the draw box
The opposing pilots stared.
The judges stared.
The wolf cub, whose paw had been kidnapped, stared too.
Wesley, already out of ways to stop him, chose silence.
“Cadet Shaw,” the chief judge said with a stern face, “this is a formal school competition. You cannot ask another person’s spirit form to draw in your place.”

The judge was a broad-faced, square-jawed Alpha. He looked like the words “fairness” and “integrity” had grown shoulders and puson a uniform.
Kane immediately laughed.
“Exactly. Who knows what weird talent that spirit form has? Maybe he’s using it to rig the draw.”
The other Alphas joined in at once, all insisting that the wolf cub could not touch the box.
Julian said, “?”
Fine.
Very fine.
He gathered Ruin back into his arms, reached into the draw box with one hand, and, in less than a second, pulled out the only red ball among twenty-one balls.
The chief judge said, “?”
The Alphas said, “?”
Wesley said, “!”
I was trying to leave you a chance,” Julian said, tossing the red ball to Wesley. “You’re the ones who made ne draw first and banned my spirit form.”
Red meant a bye.
A direct pass from the top twenty-one into the top/eleven.
Wesley stared at the red ball.
Then he stared at Julian.
Then he looked at Kane, whose face had gone ugly enough to make the whole thing even more enjoyable

Wesley, who had advanced without lifting a finger, had to admit it.
This felt amazing.
Julian had already wandered a few steps away, but then he slowly backed up.
Still sleepy, he reached for his right car. His fingers brushed a cool object there,
Wesley looked over.
A unique ear stud sat on Julian’s right earlobe. A narrow golden are circled a full, cool green stone like a planet moving along a silent orbit. Fine light flowed beneath the metal.
A deep green glow passed through it.

Then the familiar cyan-purple energy block appeared in Julian’s hand.
“Almost forgot. I need to end you this.”
Wesley said nothing.
Then Wesley said, “Honestly, remembering that much is already impressive.”
Julian nodded.
“Take it. Go on.”
Wesley looked down at the strange energy block.
His whole heart refused.
Professor R’s beginner A-class block was good.
Really.
Perfectly good.
Julian noticed his hesitation.
“You don’t want it?”

The next second, he stuffed the block back into Ruin’s arms with a clear take-it-or-leave-it attitude.
Wesley said nothing.
Wesley immediately reached toward the wolf cub with extreme caution.
He wanted it.
He definitely wanted it.
Even if it was a pile of crap, he would swallow it respectfully.
Fortunately, Ruin only narrowed its eyes at him for a moment before pushing the block out.
Its gaze was clear.
Break it and you die.
Wesley’s heart hurt.
He had no place to put that pain.
Since Wesley had drawn a bye, he finally had time to install the energy block and run compatibility tests with his competition mecha.
Julian carried Ruin back to the spectator seats and rejoined Class F

Chapter 102 The Red Ball
As for their class monitor vanishing for four days and skipping two days of matches, Class F had nothing but admiration.
A heroic record.
Truly worthy of praise.
Julian moved his spiritual sense and pulled a batch of energy-block practice kits from the storage earring Orion had slipped onto him while he slept in the Alpha’s arms.
The Class F students said, “?”
‘Don’t be shy. These are little gifts from our sect leader. He said he hopes you’ll all take care of me.”
Julian read the note Orion had left him, word for word.
Then he added, “Personally, I think our sect is great. Everyone there is talented, they speak nicely, and the sect leader is generous. I like it a lot. So, how about it? Want to consider joining?”
The students of Class F hugged their gifts and rubbed their hands together.
What were they supposed to do?
They really wanted to join.
Only Noah, who sat closest to Julian and therefore received his gift last, pinched his voice and started acting.
